Cop Kicks Suspect's Head, High Fives Fellow Cop After High Speed Chase (Video)

Another disgusting display of police acting out of line. There is no reason for this kind of act.

LOS ANGELES -- Despite lying on the ground with his arms and legs spread, a suspect got a face full of police boot on Wednesday. The kicking cop added insult to injury by giving a post-beating high five. The brutality was the final chapter of a pursuit that began about 1:30 p.m. at an attempted traffic stop in El Monte, Calif. Police tried to stop the motorist for a traffic violation, said California Highway Patrol Officer Jose Nunez.

I hate cop beatings but this was one shot to the head to stun him a bit so he could get the cuffs on him. This was not a beating.

I wasn't going to comment on this post but your nonsensical comment cries for an answer. One, doesn't matter what you want to call this, it was a beating. The guy was lying on the ground, clearly had given up and the cop walked up and kicked him in the face. He didn't do it to stun him, there was no need to stun him. The guy was lying spread eagle on the ground and other cops were coming.

There was no need to kick the guy in the face. People who make excuses for this kind of crap when there is a video like this plainly showing the cop kicking the snot out of this guy and, from the looks of it, knocking him senseless for a short time only make themselves look like fools.

Excusing this with dipsh** reasoning is as bad as Nancy Pelosi squirming and lying about what she knew about waterboarding, and just as dispicable. Oh and, BTW, this was a beating. You don't need to rain blows on someone in order to beat them.

Trailerpark...Don’t waste your time arguing with those with an anti-cop attitude. An article posted a few days ago and a comment comparing cops to Nazis was not challenged by most FReepers who responded but was instead actually SUPPORTED by most who responded. Yes, I know. I couldn’t believe it myself.

I’m not going to try to excuse what the officer did, but one kick is not a beating. I’m sure any and all of the Southern California Freepers who saw the Rodney King tape will be glad to explain the difference to you.

“Yeah it does. A cop kicked a prone, handcuffed suspect for no reason.”

Watch the video. Yes. The perp was prone. However, he was not, as yet, handcuffed.

I don’t agree with what the cop did. Hell, he had a shotgun pointed at the dude. But, at least watch the video and get it right.

For no reason?!

Correct.

He risked the lives of not only the cops, but dozens or hundreds of innocent citizens.

True. That's why he's going to jail then to court, then back to jail.

The police do not get to be judge, jury and executioner.

This time they bitch-slapped a real thug. Next time it'll be your neighbor who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

This should never be tolerated from cops. Ever.

regardless of your personal opinion of the cops, they are legitimate authority, and there should be some summary punishment for not following their lawful orders.

He was lying prone. He was following orders.

The cop kicked him for making him run off the last donut. That's not acceptable behavior.

If you or I did it we'd be charged with aggravated assault.

The cop will, of course, walk.

Do you really think the sorry ass that started this escapade cares about you, your family, the constitution?

I'm sure he doesn't. In this case I'm quite sure the perp is a true scumbag. That still doesn't give the cop the right to do that.

The police should care about The Constitution and the sanctity of their jobs.

Clearly they don't. Not as individuals and not as a force.

And that's the real problem here.

Paco getting a boot in the kisser isn't a big deal. But tolerating that leads to cuffed innocents getting executed (BART shooting in Oakland) and the like.

If a cop can't keep his cool and exercise good judgment then he shouldn't be allowed on the force.

In this case the a-holes with the badges are thugs just like the guy taking the whoopin.

But, at least watch the video and get it right.

I did and corrected myself a few posts later, thanks.

Doesn't make the cop any less of a prick, however.

Good post. Yep, the perp’s going to jail, but there was no need to kick him when he’s already down. Cops who can’t keep their cool need to not be cops.

Anyone who carries a gun as part of their job *better* know how to keep their cool. Carrying a gun carries a lot of responsibility with it. You can’t just be whipping it out and shooting people on a whim.

If this guy gets away with kicking people just for fun, next he’ll justify shooting some perp (who probably needs it, but that’s not the point) that wasn’t resisting, just because he can. Then it’ll be one of us.

In many states kicking someone with a shod foot is a felony.

I’m not aware of special boot kicking to the head techniques to ‘stun’ a prone, surrendered individual. Is that to the right eye or the left, or the temple. Maybe he was trying to hit the styloid process?

Never mind the idiocy of informing the perp community that you might as well not surrender, maybe just shoot the cop coming around a corner, as you will get a beating anyways.

Really bright. Cop loses job. Gets filmed. Causes the citizens to write yet another check. Teaches punks that you might as well not give it up.

Brilliant.

There’s no audio. The perp may have disregarded the cops order to look away. That was hardly a kick amounting to police brutality. It looked more like an incentive for the perp to follow the cops direction.

Police since way back have had to learn that if you are angry at a perp, there are ways to smite him that you can get away with, and there are ways that will get you into trouble. If anything, these officers should be punished for doing it wrong.

For example, if a squad car has a screen between the front and the back, a handcuffed perp without a seat belt will fly face first into the screen if the officer slams on the brakes. Handcuffed perps will always try to get away by running down stairs, but they trip.

Often they will try to run away, even though there is a police dog right there. And police dogs can learn all sorts of special commands that don’t sound like commands, like to bite particular parts of the perp.

The list is pretty endless, and it separates the seasoned officers from the newbies.

That's not acceptable behavior.

For you, perhaps. I'm all for it. The time to protest your innocence is in front of the judge. When dealing with cops, your "job" is to follow their orders, no matter how much it hurts your little feewings.

I bet you'd love it if every traffic stop became a battle royale requiring the entire force, all aviation units, traffic tie-ups, innocents dying...

Comply with the cop's demands, take it to the station house, bond out and get your lawyer. If a cop assaults you while you are doing any of that, I'd be in full support of any lawsuit or disciplinary action that results.

I am waiting to hear it all.

I'd love to hear what you think may come out of this that could possibly justify this action.

Shoot the cop coming around the corner?? This because if you're a perp baggy pant wearing law breaking shit-head who just led cops on a high speed chase endangering the public, you might get a smack or a kick??? What an idiotic statement!! Maybe the next time the cops can hug that low life miscreant whose better part of him flowed down his mother's leg and buy him a beer.

More brilliant.

Well, I've been here long enough to be called both a cop hater and a jackbooted thug apologist.

I have to laugh at folks who can't discern the difference between roughing up some punk who could have killed someone, and real police brutality.

Correction, not yet cuffed but certainly helpless and not a threat.

Yes he was a threat. He remeained a threat to officers until he was thoroughly searched and secured.
