Anti Gun Groups Spank Obama For Delay Of New Gun Laws
secondamendmentfreedom.blogspot.com/ ^ | 05/13/09 | Sasparilla

Anti gun groups such as the Freedom States Alliance and the Bradys are enraged over Barack Obama's apparent backing off repealing the Tihart Amendment, which would allow invasive Federal tracking of Firearms. The Bradys and FSA want to use the data to file new anti gun lawsuits against gun dealers and other nefarious purposes.

The FAS is especially mad about Obama's deletion of his and Biden's stated desire to repeal the Tihart Amendment from Obama's official White House Web Site. The following quote is from the Freedom States Alliance press release that bitterly stated, "Perhaps most galling is that on President Obama’s official White House.gov web site, under his urban policy agenda, the President advocated for removing the Tihart restrictions. That official White House.gov web page under urban policy has now changed."

The Bradys also took a shot at Obama in a statement by Brady President Paul Helmke when he said, "We are profoundly disappointed that President Obama has failed to follow through with his promises for 'openness' by reaffirming much of the so-called Tihart Amendments. This means a continuation of the reckless Bush-era policies that endanger public safety and make it easier for criminals to obtain illegal firearms."

These and other anti gun groups are seemingly oblivious to recent Gallop Poll results showing that the majority of Americans do not support stronger gun control laws, or perhaps they are just in a state of denial. It may be a matter of financial survival for the anti gun groups as well. As support for gun control wanes among the American public, so does financial support for radical anti second Amendmnet groups such as the Bradys and the FSA. But, there's always billionaire George Soros who can bail them out. The name "Freedom States Alliance" in itself is certainly an oxymoron...

‘Bama isn’t moving that slowly. here is an e-mail I got today. Don’t know for sure if it’s true.

Georgia Arms is the 5th largest retailer of .223 Ammo in
America. They sell 9mm, .45, ..223 ammunition. They normally buy spent brass from the US Department of Defense. Spent brass is “one time used” shell cases used by our Military for training purposes.

They buy the brass, recondition it, and then reload the brass for resale to Law Enforcement, Gun Clubs, Gun Shops, and stores like Wal-Mart. They normally buy 30,000 lbs of spent brass at a time.

This week the DoD wrote a letter to the owner of Georgia Arms and informed him that from now on the DoD will be destroying the spent brass, shredding it. It will no longer be available to the ammo makers, unless they buy it in a scrap shredded condition (which they have no use for). The shredded brass is now going to be sold by the DoD to China as scrap metal, after the DoD pays for it to be shredded. The DoD is selling the brass to China for less money than the ammo makers have been paying, plus the DoD has to pay to have the brass shredded and do the accounting paperwork.

This sure helps the economy now doesn’t it? Sell cheaper to
China, and do not sell at all to a proven US business. Any hidden agenda working here? Obama going after the Firearms Industry and our ammunition!!
The Georgia Arms owner even related a story that one of his
competitors had already purchased a load of brass last week. The DoD contacted him this week and said they were sending someone over to make sure it was destroyed. Shell cases he had already bought!

The brass has no value to the ammo maker if it is destroyed/shredded/melted. The ammo manufacturer only uses the empty brass cases to reload different calibers, mainly .223 bullets.

The owner of Georgia Arms says that he will have to lay off at least half of his 60 workers, within 2-3 months if the DoD will no longer sell spent brass cases to the industry. Georgia Arms has 2-3 months of inventory to use, by summer they’re out.

If the Reloading Industry has to purchase new manufacture
brass cases, then the cost of ammunition will double or even triple, plus Obama want to add a 500% tax on each shell.

You can read the information and see the DoD letter to
Georgia Arms here:

Maybe Heller scared the libs more than they thought. Plus it may be that Montana is going to challenge federal laws re guns made and sold in Montana. More and more legal challenges are springing up. Guess they found out if they push us to the wall we really WILL come out swinging!

This issue with Montana and States Rights will be very interesting to watch develop. The Interstate Commerce Clause in the USC was added to encourage interstate commerce between the states. Specifically to prevent what is happening today. (Read: Each state maufactuirng their own stuff, guns, alcohol, tobacco, pharmaceuticals, etc) Instead, through regulation, manipulation, taxes, and deceit, the Federal Government is creating what the Constitution was designed to prevent. (Assuming of course government officials could read English)

What an interesting situation. S&W, Browning, Colt, Kimber, Philip Morris, Ligget and Myers, Budweiser, or whatever will open up manufacturing plants in the friendly states.

Friendly states will prosper, Feds will die on the vine. What a concept. You got to love it!

‘Bama isn’t moving that slowly. here is an e-mail I got today. Don’t know for sure if it’s true.

I seem to recall hearing about this some months ago. The exact same story was put forth. Within a couple of days, the DoD reversed itself and started selling spent shell casings w/o the shredding.

"In March, the Department of Defense stopped re-selling spent shell casings to be reloaded and resold to the commercial market.

"Instead of selling the spent ammunition to commercial reloaders, that spent brass had to be shredded or crushed first, explains Charles Hardy, public policy director for Gun Owners of Utah (GO Utah)."

"Four days later, the Defense Logistics Agency issued a news release saying it was reversing that decision after a review."

PS Maybe that was old news and it's "off again, on again, off?"

I am glad that most don't support 'stronger gun control'.

I am disappointed that so many think that polls are a reason to do what the majority-of-the-moment think. It does not matter what the majority thinks, stronger control of guns by more laws is not the right thing to do.

Thanks. When Brady et al. are crying, we’re OK for now. The yellow and blue mutts are giving too much grief already.

No doubt the flipflop of Obama on the Tihart issue is due to Michele O’s desire to exercise her right to bare arms. She had bare arms every day since the inauguration.

Maybe Heller scared the libs more than they thought.

Not a chance. They are too determined and arrogant to back down.

Obama is going balls-out on getting the CIFTA treaty ratified and signed in this country.

Hitlery supposedly also floated a trial balloon regarding the banning of imported ammo.

This administration is obsessed with stripping away 2nd Amendment rights.
