Rasmussen Report - Americans Do Not Trust Congress !!
Rasmussen/ The Lid ^ | 5/13/09 | The Lid

In my many years I have come to a conclusion that one useless man is a shame, two is a law firm, and three or more is a congress. John Adams, Second President of the United States

John Adams may have made that statement over two hundred years ago, things haven't changed very much, and America agrees. In a Rasmussen survey released today, Americans were asked which branch of government they trust most only 13% of voters said they trusted congress. On the bright side, it is a bi-partisan result as Democrats, Republicans and independents all agreed that congress was the least trustworthy part of our government. This is on top of another recent poll that reports American's feeling that "to err is human, but to really screw things up--you need congress."

With Nancy Pelosi acting as if her new title was Lying Speaker of the House of Representatives those numbers are sure to fall further:

Hope they did not spend much on such an obvious conclusion.

Rasmussen Report - Americans Do Not Trust Congress !!

Well duh! Why should we? They don't represent the people, they only represent themselves.

Sadly, it has been proven over and over again that most people think ‘they’re all crooks...except for my guy’. Thus they stay...and stay...and stay.

Also, 2000 was a banner year for gerrymandering. Both parties were complicit; and, they divided things up to make it very hard for either party to lose a district. Dick Morris has written alot about the technical details.

Alas, congress is 99.7% crooked...just not my guy (or gal in my case).

I would restructure congress for the 21st century.

Make all Congressmen and Senators remain in their districts 24-7-365 and be responsible to their constituents.

when voting or discussion of a law is needed, it can be done electronically from their offices.

this would keep the politician back home and sensitive to the needs of the people, not to some beltway counter culture.

Well, I hope Americans keep that in mind come November 2010 when all of the House and a third of the Senate stands for election. Until they put their money where their mouth is, I’m not in the mood for complaining. If I were a betting man, though, I’d bet that the Congress in 2011 will look pretty much like the Congress we have now, and Americans still will be complaining.

That's not a good question. There are probably quite a few Obama-voting socialists who trust Pelosi as much as they trust their messiah. There are also quite a few patriotic Americans who were stuck choosing between Obama, Pelosi, and the Supremes. A better question is "On a scale from 1-10, with 1 being not at all and 10 being completely, how much do you trust ________." That way we can give all three branches the low ratings they deserrve.

Americans Do Not Trust Congress

Congress does not trust Congress, why should the citizens? Isn't that why we have "check and balances"

To love one's country is patriotic; to trust one's government is foolish.

Wait! It is going to get worse. Pelosi has to go, and the rest of the fascists must follow.

Is Hoyer as leftwing as Pelosi? This would be a perfect time for the “blue dogs” to threaten action unless Pelosi was removed.

45 Blue dogs voting the other way wipes out Obama’s administration. Wonder how come Michael Steele isn’t actively doing this?

You ain't seen nothin' yet! Just wait 'til the results of Obama's 2010 census come in!

I second that idea! However, I'd also like to see the 17th Amendment to be repealed.

Answer to your first question... Yes, they promised a fence.

Answer to your second question... Well, frankly, they don't care that it is destroying the country. As long as they can get votes from the illegals to stay in power indefinitely they simply just don't care. Yes, I know illegals aren't supposed to vote but neither are dead people and by some miracle they manage to cast votes from beyond the grave...and most of them tend to vote for Democrats.
