It certainly does betray the government's control of the media, but IMO, not necessarily the "why" of it.

I am afraid that the "why" has to do with the charge of "greed," which turns my stomach every time I hear it except when directed at government officials. Applied to government and its forceful taking of private monies through taxation and fees, "greed" is just another word for theft.

But in the private sector, there is no theft going on; "greed" is a charge made and dictated by people who indulge in envy, a DEADLY moral failing. In the past I've thought that "deadly" was kind of exaggerated with regard to the seven sins, but now I am seeing that they are indeed, deadly.

American culture, guided by the Judeo-Christian ethic, used to rightly condemn and shame displays of envy in its midst. Envy indulged (as opposed to felt and resisted, as right-minded people do) is wholly destructive, negative, and counterproductive; there is not one single thing about envy indulged that is good. Desire to better oneself because one is inspired by another's success is very different from "envy indulged." Today, envy is considered a justified response by people who have less to people who have more, and acting on envy means punishing people who have more than others.

I kind of think the reason the media doesn't go after this is because they truly believe that envy, which is the foundation for the charges of "greed" on the private sector, is a charge that cannot be countered. They don't see charges of "greed" as an immoral "justification" for the government taking over and punishing success.

Envy is indeed a deadly moral failing, and we are seeing why and how in action. The media is so bereft of morality that they think engaging in behavior spurred by envy is moral, and hence cannot even comprehend calling Obama out as wrong for what's happening here.
