Russia and Iraq signed a joint communique here on Friday, calling for the establishment of a new world order and speaking highly of the agreement on the forces pullout from Iraq, local media reported.
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and his visiting counterpart Nuri al-Maliki signed the communique after negotiations, the Itar-Tass news agency reported.
In order to ensure global peace and security, assume international accountability and strengthen multilateral cooperation, Russia and Iraq urged the establishment of a new world order, which strictly abides by UN charters and resolutions and is based on well-acknowledged international laws and principles, said the communique.

This is wrong on so many levels that I don't even know where to begin. The time is upon us when the U.S. needs to get busy preparing for a century of unending conflict and expect sacrifices equal to those made in the last century. There is trouble brewing everywhere. Unfortunately, when we need it most, we have lost a sense of our 'Americaness.' We cannot have a change of leadership fast enough.
Russia did. That's one of the funnier lines I've heard in a long time. One word: Georgia.
You know that Maliki is the next Saddam.
Or the next Qasim, the PM the Baath toppled and killed in 1963.
Back to the good ole “Oil for Food” days. I love how Russia steps in after we spend blood and treasure.
This is satire right?
This is wrong on so many levels that I don’t even know where to begin.

I say that to myself a lot when I read here lately.
Something really strange is going on here folks. I don't trust this move from Iraq to Afghanistan. I've been suspecting that it's something that the Russians want us to do for some not-good-for-us reason.
From the Sino-Russian Joint Statement of April 23, 1997:
"The two sides [China and Russia] shall, in the spirit of partnership, strive to promote the multipolarization of the world and the establishment of a new international order."

[2009] Russia, China plan new joint military exercises
By MARTIN SIEFF, UPI Senior News Analyst
Published: March 26, 2009
WASHINGTON, March 26 (UPI) -- The continuing tensions over Russia's refusal to sell its state-of-the-art land warfare advanced weapons systems to China hasn't interrupted the rhythm of major joint military exercises between the two major land powers on the Eurasian landmass. The latest in the regular, biennial series of exercises between the two nations has been confirmed for this summer.
The next in the now well-established series of exercises called Peace Mission 2009 will be carried out in northeastern China, the Russian Defense Ministry announced March 18, according to a report carried by the RIA Novosti news agency.
The first bilateral Peace Mission maneuvers -- described at the time as counter-terrorism exercises -- were held in Russia and the eastern Chinese province of Shandong in August 2005. As we reported at that time, they were a lot bigger than mere counter-terrorism exercises. Warships, squadrons of combat aircraft and more than 10,000 troops were involved carrying out landings against hypothetically hostile shores. The maneuvers also involved large-scale paratroops drops. The scale and nature of those exercises suggested a trial run for a possible Chinese invasion of Taiwan with Russian support. ..."
