The last time I was in a Barnes & Noble was the last time I will be in a Barnes & Noble.

I suspected that I was in enemy territory when I saw the featured books displayed on a table at the front entrance, and my suspicion was soon confirmed as I browsed through the aisles. The store's employees and many of the other browsers appeared to be stuck in a time warp somewhere around 1971, give or take a couple of years.

I checked the parking lot out front for rusty VW buses with hand painted flowers and peace symbols, but apparently the time warp inside the store didn't extend to the outdoors.

“... time warp somewhere around 1971...”

My high school years were 1966 - 1970 and I understand what you mean about Barnes and Noble.

But if you really a good trip with Simon and Mr. Peabody in “The Way-Back Machine” try spending a weekend in Asheville, North Carolina.
