GOP Chairman Michael Steele Calls Limbaugh Comments "Incendiary and Ugly" - Video 2/28/09

Here is video of Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele talking with CNN's D.L. Hughley last night, and calling comments made by Rush Limbaugh during his speech to CPAC "incendiary and ugly." Steele said Limbaugh is not the de facto leader of the Republican Party, and that he is an "entertainter."

This is exactly the point Rush Limbaugh was trying to make in his speech. Republicans need to stop worrying about what the D.L. Hughley's think! They will never like conservatives or Republicans, because they are liberals! Steele should not have disavowed, in effect, what Rush said. He should have hammered home the core principles set forth by Limbaugh in his speech. . . . . (Watch Video)

In context it wasn't as bad as I had expected. I don't think he was putting Rush down.

I think he meant that Rush is an entertainer and was doing what Rush does...better than anybody else.

Steele wouldn't be so stupid as to criticize Rush Limbaugh on CNN!!!

Screw Steele...Rush should just start a conservative Party. If they can not handle truth who needs em? Rush said what I think.

so Steele chooses to remove his mask on the occasion of the best public articulation since omomma took office of our American Spirit and exceptionalism.

Fine.

If the GOP follows suit, So Be It.

Rush was wonderful and positive and very encouraging last night; I didn’t see a single “incendiary” thing in his talk, unless Steele has bought into the idea that it’s verboten to talk about The One in anything less than adulatory tones.

I didn’t know much about Steele and I wasn’t sure what to think about him, but I think he’s made it pretty clear now where he stands.

I watched Rush’s speech yesterday, and he left tons of ammo for the opposition. I can easily see how he made people on our side of the isle nervous. The speech was ‘disjointed’ mishmash at best. If you saw that speech and did not understand Rush, I can easily see how people may feel.

I think Steele might be a Dem plant to destroy the GOP from the inside.

That isn't necessary, 'cuz the Dim's aren't needed...the GOP has been eating away @ itself for years.

Are the Republican leaders just this stupid? Really, here we have a man, Rush Limbaugh, who brings down the house, with the audience on their feet, comment after comment. Twenty-two million people can not wait until noon every day to hear his comments. What does the Republican party do? They make Limbaugh an enemy. It is beyond belief.

Just when I think returning to the GOP might be a good idea, I hear crap like this.

No kidding! Did Mr. "head of the Republican Party" bother to see exactly how many people showed up to listen to Rush? (I think it was a record, or close to it). Did Mr. "Head of the Republican Party" bother to see how many standing O's Rush got? (18)

Hey, Mr. "Head of the Republican Party", Rush said what we are thinking. You really should get rid of the PC attitude and lead us into getting down to business to get our country back! (pffftt to the "Head of the Republican Party")

More reach out across the aisle, bipartisan garbage the OP(formerly the GOP) has come to embrace. CPAC allowing Republicans to their convention defeats the whole purpose of advancing the conservative cause.

It will only serve to make it increasingly more difficult for the GOP to fundraise. Seems that most GOP leaders take their eye off their constituents when they speak to the MSM, Hollywood, etc.

Michael Steele better watch what he is saying, because Rush better represents what the Republicans need to say. Rush will be the last man standing with many Conservatives.

Steele really disappointed me in his comments. I wonder if he is revealing his deep hidden allegiance to obuma’s skin in the game loyalty of race?????

Rush’s comments were clear, consise and to the point. Rush said what the Repubs are too, scared to say “the truth.”

In summation, steele is just “another got skin in da game rino brother.”

Michael needs to stay on message and quit pandering to his audience.
He shouldn't make this into a “my rice bowl” issue, with his “He's not the leader, I'm the leader.” comments.

I can’t find anything ugly in Rush’s speech?! it was very uplifting! this has to be a deliberate stab in the back by the Washingtonian Republicans.
