Whoever Was in Charge of Jindal’s Appearance Tonight Should be Fired
American Glob ^

Posted on 02/24/2009 10:07:48 PM PST by libertarian9

Conservatives, Republicans, Libertarians, Blue Dogs and yes, even PUMAs, deserve better than we got tonight.

If the Republicans are going to have a win in 2010 and 2012, we better have people who are better than Jindal's handlers tonight.

That's not pessimism, it's realism.

I agree. I was disappointed, but it does not disqualify the man from anything in the future. We know his core message is right on. The setting was bad, and he did not rise to the occasion to make it any more effective than average. The speech was not delivered well, especially for the first half. He had a good message in the second half, but by then, I had lost interest.

The GOP needs to find some good media people. First of all, the audience was long gone by the time the speech began. There was a good 15 minutes. They should be ready to walk out to speak the second the President is off stage. Secondly, enough with the butt kissing of Obama. 47% of voters detest the marxist and want to hear some opposition. The Dems never kissed Bush’s butt in a speech, outside of some side comment about bipartisanship. Get to the meat of the speech quickly...what is wrong with Obama, and why is he going to damage our future. Whether it is Steele, Jindal, or whoever. Get over the past and stop falling into the media’s trap about losing. The Dems lost everything for a decade and the discussion was never about what they did wrong. Enough already.

It was a bad speech and a poor performance, but it really was a no-win situation. Obama just gave a stem-winder of a speech and promised the moon to everyone. Injecting a note of reality into the situation was something that had to be done but wasn’t going to be very popular. But the speech itself worked against Jindal more than his performance. The three biggest issues in the news today are the markets, the financial industry meltdown, and the housing problem. The speech ignored all of them. It made it look like the Republicans were out of touch and had no alternative to offer to Obama’s proposals.

I posted on this thread and my post was removed? Why? I’m a PUMA and didn’t say anything worse than anything that was posted below my post!

What a hoot! Censorship that’s worse than the MSM!

This was the "off the hook" GOP that Steele is preaching about:

This site isn't about your 1st Amendment rights, sweetheart. Welcome to the benevolent dictatorship of Jim Robinson Inc. where the mods make subjective calls. If the heat bothers you, go operate and play on your own forum.

"That's what I liked about Romney last go around. The guy could have stood up next to Obama toe-to-toe and debated him eloquently and from a conservative position with the voice of experience. (Waits for the usual crew to bad mouth the guy's actions 10-years ago...)

Agree 100% about Romney. He could have made Obama look very stupid in the debates especially on economic issues. I think the "Rich Guy" label still would have been hard to shake in the end. But, he may have had a fighting chance.

I'm not sure if you and I are in the minority at FR, but were certainly in the vocal minority. Expect a onslaught from "inarticulate is good" crowd her on FR.

You really want to vomit, after this was over I watched cSpan last night, Hawaii congressman Neil Abercrombie -- talk about an embarassment -- anyway, this guy in the process of slobbering all over how great Obama is actually said for those who doubt it I know Obama was born in Hawaii at blah, blah hospital -- I know because I was living in Hawaii at the time!!!!!!!

What an idiot that guy is, because HE lived in Hawaii at the time he just happened to know this little baby was born... who was he? one of the three wise men?

Anyway, he goes on to say he is putting in a bill for tax deductions for spouses who travel with their spouse on business because Hawaii needs the business..... grrrrrrrr these people are making me nuts!

"As far as tonight goes, it sounded too much like a speech and not enough like Jindal."

That was my impression too. The whole thing was badly staged.

Let Jindal be Jindal. He will connect with the American people if they aren't distracted by a poor attempt at grand production and an ill-advised presentation.

Exactly. They took one of the best hopes and put him in a “no-win” situation.

They should have kept their powder dry.

At this point, I would celebrate Romney making a run for it again. I would rather have a Mormon than Muslim, I know people think he is RINO, but gee at this point, anything is improvement over Ears.

Your analysis of Abercrombie made me laugh.

Found a pic of him--one that you will love. The guy is a Dem though so the slobbering is to be expected from those idiots. I'm tired of it from Republicans. Everyone is being oh so careful to couch anything they say in butt kissing of that poseur/usurper. He is the most undeserving person ever to have reached that office.

I was for Romney in the primary. We didn’t have much of choice all the way around. I know the guy’s shortcomings. I know all of our line-ups shortcomings, but like you said, Romney would definitely be a huge improvement over what we got. Any of them would have been.

You have been sucked into the symbolism over substance hole promulgated by the MSM.

With Sanjia staying on American Idol for so long - you NEED the symbolism to get people to pay attention to the substance.
Sorry for ruining your day but that's my take on it.

People these days want to SEE before they listen.

OMG... that picture ~LOL~

I was beyond disappointed in Cantor's comments to Hannity last night... our elected representative need to get mad and soon.. I know one thing Cavuto and the Fox business guys are certainly angry... they just said O is deliberately talking the market and our 401k's down and it is irresponsible -- I agree.

Funny you should mention Cantor. A guy just called Hannity's radio show--maybe you heard it?--and said he thought Hannity was dissappointed with what Cantor had to say last night. I don't watch cable news any more so I missed the exchange. Hannity hemed and hawed and finally said he was not disappointed in what he had to say. Many of these talk show hosts are holding back too (although not as much as the politicians). We need plain language people. People that say the truth. People that will back up other conservatives that have the guts to speak out. We don't need any more mealy mouths. Republicans and conservatives will get pounded in the media anyway--better to get pounded for standing up and speaking the truth--at least you will have half--maybe more than half behind you. If you are a mealy mouth, you have everyone cheesed off at you. And for goodness sake, we don't need any more talk from our side about Obama's historic win and what a good guy he is.
