Today the AP is reporting that Obama will remove US combat troops from Iraq by August 2010, and that all US troops will be pulled out by December 2011. On the surface this looks good for Obama supporters, but Obama cant take credit for getting US troops out of Iraq. That was ALL Bush.
In fact, Obama has just admitted that he is extending US combat troops' deployment in Iraq by 14 months longer than under the Bush plan.

This is incorrect. In December 2008, Team Bush negotiated a status of forces agreement with Iraq that stipulated all U.S. troops would be out of the country by the end of 2011. It appears that Obama has decided not to deviate from that plan.

If Saddam, Venezuela, Russia, Iran, and others had their way, it would have happened a whole lot sooner.
Imagine the housing bubble imploding upon the externally directed implosion of the dollar.
Things would likely have been much worse, much sooner.
As it is, it's bad enough: Consider what would have happened if Adolph Hitler had been in power with a ramped-up military industrial complex - in 1928/29. Seems to me that's about where we are.
Smart move by Obama. We should stay like Korea.
