Anyone Else Fed UP With the GOP?

Posted on 01/27/2009 9:26:08 AM PST by Karama

I am posting this, because of recent events. I am very upset with watching our freedoms being signed away by this new "President", and seeing those who are supposed to be leaders in the GOP not even batting an eye over it. I am sick of the spineless way some of the GOP behave when they should be standing up saying, "Heck No we are Not going to let you do this."

We voted for these people on the notion that they would carry out the conservative agenda that we sent them there to perform. So far we have yet to see much of this. We as citizens give these people the power to rule us. I say it is time we start taking it away if they will NOT obey the will of those who gave them their power in the first place.

I think also the crowing moment that has set me on fire for a new kind of change is the "President's" comment that he won so we should all just sit down shut up and do what ever he wants. When he told the officials we elected that he in effect told us this as well. I say now is when we need to break this silence and be as loud as we can be. I refuse to sit down and shut up any longer. I don't care if I am the only one who is willing to get a bull horn and speak my mind. I will. Conservatives, friends, silence is getting us no where, but shafted. We need to take a more proactive tack with our government. Even if it means starting a new party.

I have as of late felt that the GOP leadership has left it's grass root conservatism behind. It has fallen prey to the notion that if they become more "moderate" that they will be loved by the liberal left. Hog wash!

So in light of this, I feel if our so called "leaders" are going to leave us behind, then I feel we should do them the same turn. I call for all those with a mind for justice, and a love of freedom to stand up. All those who wish to not see this great Republic fade into the night stand up! Stand up for the constitution, for God, for the betterment of mankind! STAND UP!

You’re types of post are counterproductive. We should be thinking of realistic ways we can change the GOP back into a party that wins elections not fantasizing about some revolution that will never come. You just make us look like violent kooks.

It is just too difficult for a third party to ever get traction. We have to work within the GOP if we are ever to see real change.

I believe we should plan to recapture the republican party because starting a new party has no guarantees and it would take too long. First, we need to certify true conservatives already within the party. Any deviation and they lose their certifcation.

The socialists began their quest to take over the democrat party I believe in 1968 during the riots in Grant Park in Chicago where Obama quite appropriately celebrated his election on election night.

It depends upon how quickly we can adjust to reality. I think we are somewhere between 1929 and 1933 Weimar Republic.

You do not, and never will have, the ability to do such a thing. You're either going to have to live with the GOP being Liberal Party II, or at some point walk away. Those are your only two choices. This fact is intrinsic to the type of open association the Republican Party happens to be.

Working within the GOP will change nothing. The Country Club Republicans [who ONLY care about taxes, if that], have never been comfortable with conservatives, and have never believed we should be running, or influencing, ‘their’ party. We were/are tolerated only for our votes, not our beliefs, which they don't share.

These ‘Brahmans’ knifed Goldwater, tried to knife Reagan, and defect to the Dims every chance they get. When they run a candidate they like, we are expected to work our buns off, kowtow and get in line. When their candidate loses, they blame us, and call for a further shift to the left. When the candidate is one of ours, they, at best, hardly break a sweat in working for him. At worst, they sabotage the candidate. Then they call for a shift to the left.

So jettison them. They're going to vote with us [maybe] on taxes. That's not worth the aggita of working with, and sharing a party with them. Our principles are not THEIR principles. And, for the conservative non Pubbies out there, they confuse our message, our programs and our identities. I have more in common with a Blue Dog Democrat than I do with Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, John Warner, Lindsay Graham, Christie Todd Whitman, Rudy Giuliani and John McCain. Try getting those folks into the tent, and dump the dead weight.

Decades too late now.

Maybe we can get Palin to lead a new conservative-constitutional party.

Minnie Pearl will be lucky to lead a Wasilla High School Band, let alone a movement.

You will not find too many people on the board happy with the GOP. It's not the we have left the GOP, but the GOP has left us. It has abandoned its conservative base. At this point in time, I'm seriously thinking about supporting a third party, and I'm beginning to think that secessionist movement is the only answer. Right now, we have an electoral college that is controlled by a few large states, such as California and New York. The “red states” don't have much influence or political power. We are like the Israelites in Goshen.

Decades too late now.

You're probably right.

It would have been fun to have a certified conservative politician someone you can always trust to vote the right way.

Wrong again. I am a conservative. But I may not be a Republican much longer if they don’t get a spine.

Yes and I feel pushed. I feel as if the party I have backed since 9/11 has forgotten itself and needs to get off it’s collective back sides and get on the march!

I am with you! That is the whole point of why I wrote this! People need to get fired up we need to get angry. Obama told our reps to sit down and shut up and in effect he told us, the people, to sit down and shut up. That is the wording of a petty dictator. Bush would have never said such a thing.

"My congressman is Mark Kirk (of IL), a Republican who is pro-choice"

Unless you're talking about vouchers, let's stop using the PC media term and soft-peddling this morally abhorrant position, and call it what it is, pro-abortion.

I am open to how ever we have to do this to get things back on track. I just want people to stop being quiet! For the love of God and the constitution we must speak up. Silence is getting us no where. We must be heard.

Freedom is not Free!
