Earth on the Brink of an Ice Age
Pravda ^ | 1/11/09 | staff

The earth is now on the brink of entering another Ice Age, according to a large and compelling body of evidence from within the field of climate science. Many sources of data which provide our knowledge base of long-term climate change indicate that the warm, twelve thousand year-long Holocene period will rather soon be coming to an end, and then the earth will return to Ice Age conditions for the next 100,000 years.

Ice cores, ocean sediment cores, the geologic record, and studies of ancient plant and animal populations all demonstrate a regular cyclic pattern of Ice Age glacial maximums which each last about 100,000 years, separated by intervening warm interglacials, each lasting about 12,000 years.

The Solar Sun Spots have disappeared for over a year ?

The sun has been virtually spot-free for several years now. There is an 11-year sunspot cycle. The next max of spot activity isn't expected until around 2011-2012.

Don't worry about Al. The Left has never been influenced by truth. They'll be shouting "Global Warming!" (if that indeed is the Party Line) when we're dog-sledding in Miami and Acapulco's under 10 feet of snow. If Al suddenly announces: "No, it's 'Global Cooling!'" the Mind-numbed Robots echo without missing a beat.

Just finished “Not by Fire, But by Ice, Robert Felix

Talks about our current interglacial period about to end based on historical cycle. He said it comes FAST upon us, not slowly. Mass extinctions of the living are the result.

The Global Warming crowd of naive lunatics has already hedged that bet. They now claim that Global Warming will first bring about global cooling. of course, they have no evidence to back up this preposterous statement but that doesn’t matter, because they know their right.

As a blond, nordic type, gorgeous, blue eyed man, I’m on the way—clams in one hand, ice skates in the other, and ready to dog-sled down Bourbon Street! Have the gumbo ready!

Here's a NASA graph of sunspot activity over the past 400 years. Note the profound lack of sunspot activity during the "Little Ice Age" period (apprx 1650-1720), AND the sharp INCREASE during the past 60 years. The individual peaks and valleys represent the approximate 11-year solar sunspot cycle:

From BBC News [yr: 2004]:
"A new [2004] analysis shows that the Sun is more active now than it has been at anytime in the previous 1,000 years. Scientists based at the Institute for Astronomy in Zurich used ice cores from Greenland to construct a picture of our star's activity in the past. They say that over the last century the number of sunspots rose at the same time that the Earth's climate became steadily warmer."..."In particular, it has been noted that between about 1645 and 1715, few sunspots were seen on the Sun's surface. This period is called the Maunder Minimum after the English astronomer who studied it. It coincided with a spell of prolonged cold weather often referred to as the "Little Ice Age". Solar scientists strongly suspect there is a link between the two events - but the exact mechanism remains elusive."

"It was like religion, she believed it and nothing was going to change her mind. It made me sad."

It scares me! The scariest thing about the Left is they way they suspend judgment--ignore logic--hold truth in contempt.

You can watch the minds of intelligent, well educated people jump into a different gear when their Leftist dogma is challenged. Their eyes glaze over. Anything contrary to the party line is dismissed like the repellant pole of a magnet.

It's as though they are afraid to consider anything that threatens Leftist dogma.

And this is the scariest thing about the Left.

In the recent election, nothing that interfered with their support of Obama was even open for consideration.

These people elected the President of the United States. They control the U.S. nuclear arsenal. And they are Mind-numbed Robots who have lost the ability to think for themselves!

A few nights ago, I happened to watch Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the old Kevin McCarthy version, which is very good. It takes place in a small town in California. I said to my family: "This explains California." For the first time, I thought I might understand the Left.

I feel like I'm Kevin, standing in the midst of traffic, shouting, "You are in danger! We are all in danger! They're controlling your minds!"

Well the Ice Age theory is much more credible than Al Gore's "man-made Global warming" baloney.

Ice Ages have already been well-documented. Much of the North American continent has been covered in ice on at least several occasions over the past few million years and it will certainly happen again. In fact, where I am typing this reply (northern Mass.) once sat an ice sheet over a mile thick just 13,000 years ago. This is but an eyeblink in the life of the Earth.

So an Ice Age will happen again. Only question is when and how fast it will happen.

My friend that I spoke of was born and raised in Holland. Her rational was that growing up she could ice skate on the canals and now you couldn't. I pointed out to her that warm and cold periods are a normal part of the cycle. That is when she folded her arms and said that “there was a consensus” , she had read it in the NYT, algore was right her grandchildren in Holland would drown if we didn't do something. You can't even talk to people like that.

You need to do a little more research, this Maunder Minimum isn’t matching the Historical cycle, and usually the sunspots NEVER disappear for this long.

They diminish in size and numbers, but the cycle starts and stops. This period of no sunspots has gone longer than Normal.

It doesn’t FIT the Media’s message or Al Gore’s, BUT..”Astronomers who count sunspots have announced that 2008 is now the “blankest year” of the Space Age

It IS a religion.

Ask her if she can understand the science involved. The geology. Can she handle the math, the probabilities. For about 98% of the people, the answer is NO.

Ask her if she can read, write and/or interpret the computer models. If there was a built-in bias to any of the assumptions in the models - could she find it in the programming? Have they modeled cloud formation correctly. Have they modeled water vapor variation correctly. Again, virtually everyone who is honest will tell you NO.

So, if they can't do the math...

if they admit they don't have the smarts or background to understand the geology...

and the atmospheric science...

Can't mathematically write a proof of the effects of carbon and/or carbon dioxide and how those elements cause atmospheric warming...

Can't do the chemistry...etc. etc.

The only thing left to explain their belief is faith. Either you can prove scientifically that CO2 is warming the earth, or you can't prove any aspect of the theory, and you're just taking it on faith.

And if you're just taking it on faith, then BY DEFINITION, it's a religion, and not science.

I think i'll go cut down a few trees.

What's ironic, is that Pravda is right, and that a former Vice-President of the United States is wrong! What I find ironic is American conservatives have to go to Pravda to get factual reporting. Is this world upside down or what?

No, you can't even talke to people like that. You might as well try communicating with a liar or a psychotic.

It's a consensus, all right; that's what Leftist dogma is--groupthink. You could have replied that not too long ago there was a consensus that the earth is flat, that disease is caused by evil spirits, that humans will never fly, and that heretics should be burned to death, but I'm sure it would have done no good.

That's what's so scary about the Left. Most of them are Mind-numbed Robots who refuse to think for themselves and accept the consensus as fact. What they can't seem to comprehend is that there are people--some of the sociopathic--who establish this dogma, and that truth for its own sake is not to their advantage and does not support their agenda.
