During the battle, the designated marksman single handedly thwarted a company-sized enemy RPG and machinegun ambush by reportedly killing 20 enemy fighters with his devastatingly accurate precision fire. He selflessly exposed himself time and again to intense enemy fire during a critical point in the eight-hour battle for Shewan in order to kill any enemy combatants who attempted to engage or maneuver on the Marines in the kill zone. What made his actions even more impressive was the fact that he didnt miss any shots, despite the enemies rounds impacting within a foot of his fighting position. I was in my own little world, the young corporal said. I wasnt even aware of a lot of the rounds impacting near my position, because I was concentrating so hard on making sure my rounds were on target. The most amazing thing about the battle: Not a single Marine was seriously hurt. Hoo-rah! ************************************
These kids are so brave and I do not use the word “kids” in a disrespectful way. I say it more in amazement. They are very young and incredibly brave.
I wonder what the marksman was using. The M-16 is too lightweight for Afghanistan. They have been using a modified M-14 with a scope. This should be more standard issue. .223 is not good in those canyons.
Be not Thou far from me, O Lord. [crack!]
Blessed be the Lord my strength, which teaches my hands to the war, and my fingers to fight. [crack!]
My goodness and my fortress... my high tower and my Deliverer. [crack!]
My shield, and he in whom I trust [crack!]
O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not my enemies triumph over me. [crack!]
