We really do need new faces. That is why Sarah and Bobby are so appealing—young, different people who are walking the walk AND talking the talk.
No offense to the mobs here who love Newt. Of course, Newt wouldn’t be running for office either....
Your point is valid, but keep in mind that a party chairmanship is a position where "baggage" doesn't matter all that much. It's not as if he's running for public office, and in fact he will be fully aware that this is the kind of position where a lot of negative media coverage will be a good sign that he's doing a great job.
