It wasn’t McCain’s campaign. There was no way a gray-haired man could ever win running against a young man who chose to cast himself as a minority candidate who called upon White guilt and who had the backing of the entire leftist establishment, including the media and the democrats.
wow...pretty much nailed it. well done.
Agreed. I suspect that deep in his heart of heart he didn't really want to become POTUS; that he entered the primaries pretty much at the urging of others, and never imagined he's have come this close.
A tip o’ my hat to you on a lucid, well conceived post. It was a pleasure to read.
Here’s the grabber graph in this excellect analysis.
“What was McCain thinking when he announced on September 24 he was suspending his campaign, including the upcoming September 26 debate appearance, after the financial crisis broke? Did he think the majority democrats would cave in and make him a conquering hero? Did he think it was a one-day crisis that would blow over, and make him look as if he had worked some magic on it? Indeed, as the Obama ads relentlessly drilled, he appeared confused, erratic, and out of touch — his big moment of crisis in the middle of the campaign, and he blew it. He choked. And everyone forgot about Obama’s horrendous response to Russia’s Georgia invasion just a month earlier.”
“On the other hand, America doesn’t deserve the punishment an Obama presidency is about to inflict upon us.”
I disagree. We’ve allowed ourselves to stray far from our foundations and now we need to face the consequences of our foolish laziness.
Damned good summary. Thank you.
It’s all good. wny should be working for the GOP.
Exactly. And the nation as a whole needs to institute a credible voter registration/validation process so that only those who are legitimate can take part. Getting that part past the Democrats will be next to impossible but we HAVE to do it. I never thought that I'd see the day when the integrity of the American elections would be suspect.
I DIDN’T WRITE THIS! IT WAS ON HUMAN EVENTS THIS MORNING. Author’s name is Aryeh Spero.
McCain came on strong in open primary states that allowed cross-over voting. He also did well in Georgia — an early primary state with a lot of military & military retirees.
I hate the idea of cross-over voting. It essentially allows your opponents the opportunity to pick your candidate for you. Don’t know that there’s very much we can do about it on a national-level, however. Election laws are pretty much controlled at the state-level.
That’s right, McCain was nominated by liberals and the drive by liberal media. They always try to someone who they think they can beat in the general elections. With the open primary systems that a lot of states have, we will always have a hard time getting a good conservative nominee.
LOL! Well, thanks for sharing it. :) It’s really well done.
Actually, I did write this response on this thread. I didn’t write the “GREAT READ” thread from HUMAN EVENTS. Doing to much this morning.
I’m lucky I have more than enough to keep me busy today. I am somewhat avoiding the news, however.
I have been thinking this for a long time, there was no fire inside. I believe he just wanted the honor of running, then going back to the Senate as a Elder Stateman.
Well, he'll always have his campaign scrapbook and a seat at Obama's table dishing out social programs for all those "new" Americans he has a hand in legalizing.
Oh...I don't know...why don't we ask some of the genius posters (you all know who you are) who were constantly on here telling those of us who knew better that McCain was the only chance we had...that only HE could defeat Obama.
Why don't you ask those who were on here constantly drinking the coolaid...harping about a McCain LANDSLIDE!!! HE'S GOING TO WIN NH...PENN...WI IS IN PLAY!!! NO WAY HE LOSES OH OR FL!!!
Maybe some of those people...who called everyone a troll because they dared be realistic (only a few dared to bring some realism during this time of mass hysteria)...a about what was happening...maybe some of those folks would like to answer the question. WHY?
Sorry to vent on your post...but these last few months have been torture. I said it two or three months ago...and so did many others. He was running (and ran) a Dole '96 campaign...and we had a Dole '96-type nominee.
We got the same results. Want a different type of nominee? Take the nominating advantage away from IA and NH...two states that love their pork and RINO's...and give it to some conservative states like TX, NE, WY, UT, OK, MS, GA...etc.
