UTICA, New York - As Election Day nears in the U.S. Presidential race, Democrat Barack Obama has increased his lead to 7.1 points over Republican John McCain, up from a 5.7 point advantage in yesterday's report, the latest Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby daily tracking poll shows.
Pollster John Zogby: "Barack Obama is where he needs to be and John McCain is not. In a multi-candidate race, assuming the minor candidates can win around 2%, 51% can win. Obama holds the groups that he needs and continues to hold a big lead among independents and his base. McCain seems to be holding his base without expanding it or moving into Obama's territory. A reminder: we will have another release based on polling through midnight Monday out early Tuesday."

I see Rasmussen had him up by 7 too. What is wrong with these polls..
but what if they have them cooked so high, they will be again over 50%.
I think what is most important, is get as many people to the polls everyone can and vote for McCain. We need the turnout.

Until Zogby explains, I have no more time for them. Zogby caused a real ruckus all over, Drudge, Hannity, we were all made to look like fools for running after Zogby's loose talk.

I think most would realize there is something very wrong with the picture.
Obama has about as many contacts with radicals/terrorist as bin Laden does. I think the message got out and lets just hope and get as many out to vote against him as we can.
that might very well be part of it. I had others tell me that too. But I believe there is some slant to it too.

sorry for buttin but perhaps that shouldn’t cause someone to skew their polling. what would though is some type of interest, like money and or a favorite.

though I appreciate your analysis, but these pollsters each use different polling methods.
Zogby will probably be the only pollster with a final prediction Tuesday morning, which will be all over the airwaves as “the only Tuesday poll, and thus the most current one.” Nevermind that Zogby’s poll is roundly bashed by left and right as virtually worthless, it will get a lot of play, regardless.
Don’t expect any tightening in this poll just in time for Tuesday. Quite the opposite.
The math:
Zogby uses a 3-day rolling average. On Sunday morning they reported their 3-day averages as follows:
O+10, M+1, O+10. Sunday morning the poll showed 5.7%
So, that O+10 day from Friday drops off this poll, but Monday morning the poll is at 7.1%. That suggests the following numbers:
M+1, O+10, O+12 for their poll numbers from Friday through Sunday.
Their final poll Tuesday morning will see that one strong McCain day dropped off, so don’t be surprised to see this poll at double-digit numbers come tomorrow. It is “special sauce” Zogby, but most people will hear about this “final” poll on their way to work or watch it on CNN and Foxnews, which suggests massive movement towards Obama in the final days, when all it really is is one very good McCain day falling off.
