"THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS CONDONING ABORTION WHEN THEY BACK OBAMA!" Why do you write stuff like this? You know very well that the Catholic Church is neither condoning abortion nor backing Obama.

Our Pastor, Msgr. Patrick Bishop of Transfiguration Church in Marietta, Ga. of the Catholic Diocese of Atlanta announced from the altar tonight that neither party is PRO LIFE. He said Obama is not Pro Life because of his position on Abortion and Sarah Palin is not Pro Life because she favors the death penalty.
I guess this is giving his tacit approval of Obama by saying that one candidate is not any better than the other!!Perhaps you could cordially ask your pastor if the U.S. has mandated or permitted by law 40 MILLION capital punishment deaths since 1973 to humans known to be innocent of any crime against God or man and await his explanation! His observation (as the Pope and at least 11 Bishops now have opined) is philosophically and morally called "sophistry." See Archbishop Chaput over the last month for abundant evidence. There is no moral equivalent between the two situations and he knows it.

If that was my pastor, I’d ask him a couple of questions. Isn’t capital punishment mentioned (and condoned)in the Bible? And is abortion?

I must confess that I share your amazement at that article; it was very illuminating. I also agree with your Civil War analogy. I have never seen a nation so polarized between the elites that govern and those governed. It has now spread to families in a huge way.

This is a very painful election for individuals and the country. Its almost like Civil War times where every family was touched by tragedy and division.
This is just a forshadowing of what is to come.
I suspect partition and war.

I would have walked out!
My friend went to 5 oclock mass tonight and the Priest's sermon was all about why they should not vote for any candidate who condones abortion.
He did not mention which one that was..:)

I sport dual McPalin buttons on my coat here in Seattle (Bell Town and Queen Anne to be specific). Get a lot of stink eye and had a guy at a coffee shop on the waterfront who was visibily uncomfortable about the buttons and fidget around when he saw me. Their typical cowards at heart and unless they have a group with them all they have the courage to do is give you a dirty look which gets them a smirk and head nod in response. Surprisely enough I was at the liquor store yesterday up in Queen Anne and had the older lady that worked there actually shake my hand for having the courage to wear my McPalin buttons. I could tell she was obviosly tired of the liberal slant and told me how disgusted she was about how nobody really listened to BO and how he supported killing babies. She said she was praying for McCain. If anyone is familiar with Queen Anne Hill this caught me and my buddy completely off guard which prompted us to talk about how we found a third republican in Queen Anne which brought yet more dirty looks but passerby's.
Just to be safe though I have my Rossi and McCain bumper stickers on magnets so I can take them off when parked. I'm not crazy enough to let my car get keyed.

Sorry — my mind went straight into the gutter when I read the title and this is what flashed into my mind;
Father, Im not going to vote for Obama.
Good son, good.
Because voting for obama is a lot like wanking yourself...sure, it feels good for a little while...but the whole time you’ll be wondering if you are going to get caught, if you are going to hell, and if it is going to make you go blind.
The whole thing is filled with guilt, shame, and remorse...and of course you know my son what voting for obama and wanking have in common...in the end, all you have done is screwed yourself.
Now say two hail mary’s and an our father and run along and vote for McCain/Palin...and keep your hands off yerself and don’t vote for obama.
Oh, and some “A” hole stole my McCain/Palin sign last night sometime between 10:00 pm and 8:00 am...man it really pissed me off.

Please God, let it be November 5th and let John McCain have pulled off the greatest upset since Truman defeated Dewey... that nobody saw it coming. While I wouldn't bet on it, I hope people will be talking decades from now about the "greatest upset since McCain defeated Obama."

carville says there will be riots nationally if obama loses. thanks a lot to our news broadcasters throwing obama forward and all that stuff. It's the media pushing the meme, in concert with the Obama campaign itself, that any criticism of Obama and and vote against him must necessarily be racist. Therefore, if Obama loses, it's because of racism and you could very see riots like we saw in the 60's. I like to think people are not really that stupid, but I've been disappointed many times before.

Ihad someone approach me last week and ask me if my car had the McCain Palin signs on it.
I answered positively, then stuck out my hand and shook hands with her. She proceeded to tell me that I was very brave to have those on my car.
I only asked her why shouldn’t everyone have them on their cars.

I have friends like that! I just will NOT self-edit like that. Why? I have worked hard to form my own opinions, and I believe we are called to stand for what we believe in. And to have the courage to do so. These are folks who should know better.
I always, always challenge their contention. You get to say stuff, you have to say it. And I tell them — you might end up with people who don’t like you/ I have those. And??

We can learn from what happened when the Boston Red Soxs won game 6 of the ACLS, forcing a game 7. The Sox took the wind out of the Tampa Bay Rays sails. It could also happen to McCain, he can pull a suprise win on Nov. 4th.

I heard a policeman call in Rush a couple of weeks ago. He did not mention where he lived, but he said they were training for Urban Riots every weekend until the election. They thot there would be riots if Obama did not win. They thot there might be unrest later, if Obama did win, as the great O began to implement his programs.

Not suprising considering I did predict that police forces around the country are getting ready for possible “problems” that could happen if Obama either wins or losses.

Have we come to this? We want to be LIKED so much that we will
not dare speak the truth?
I agree with the sentiment.
But some folks, like myself live in enclaves where a McCain/Palin
sign is just going to buy trouble. Maybe even violence to property.
Yep, I'm in Columbia, MO, home of the U. of Missouri and their
School of Journalism (alma mater of Walter Cronkite).
I simply keep my powder dry and wait to "speak out" inside
the voting booth.
And shudder to think what sort of additional tricks ACORN,
the ACLU and their fellow travelers will use to deliver Missouri
to The ObamaMessiah's win column.
I won't be shocked when some polling stations in St. Louis and
KC are allowed to stay open till dawn of Wed. Nov. 5.
