McCain's October Surprise for Obama Coming This Weekend?
The Patriot Room ^ | October 3, 2008 | Bill Dupray

Posted on 10/03/2008 5:07:19 AM PDT by Bill Dupray

Everybody on the right is itching for McCain to destroy Obama and the Democrat Congress on this Fannie and Freddie scandal. There is the explosive video seen more than 1 million times on YouTube showing exactly how the Democrats are solely responsible for this mess. Here is a damning video showing Democrats from a couple years ago saying that everything was fine and dandy with Fannie and Freddie while Republicans and regulators pleaded for reform and oversight. Here is Bill O'Reilly from last night absolutely losing his mind yelling at Barney Frank for trying to cover this up.

Even Britt Hume and Charles Krauthammer after the debate last night were baffled at why McCain has not gone after such an easy target.

It is a grenade sitting in the middle of the Democrat Party waiting for McCain to pull the pin. Ace thinks McCain will pull that pin, just not yet. I think he is dead on the money.

Here is the strategy . . .

He has to wait until the house votes in the bailout, which I think is kinda chickenshit, but I understand it. He really must believe that the country needs it. Those asshats in congress must know more than we do. Don’t get me wrong folks, I’m in the tank for Mac, I just don’t understand why he didn’t put himself on the side of the people on this.

Yes. AND he will do it as close to election day as possible, so Obama (the Silver Tongue Genius) will not have time to retaliate or respond.

Funny thing about facts... it's hard to make them into something they are NOT!

I think you only need look at Pelosi as the case for waiting. McCain wants to get this thing passed (I disagree with him on that, but that’s irrelevant for this discussion). You don’t slam the people you need support from while you need their support; you wait until after they’ve already done what you want/need.

Pelosi didn’t do that, and made a complete national disgrace out of herself, and possibly (never mind the spin) lost a vote she could have won.

McCain is waiting, for now, until the deal (whatever it winds up being) is done, and then I imagine he’ll launch with both barrels. Just don’t expect the media to report it.

Maybe, but watching Sarah Palin last night I got the impression that McCains strategy for the rest of the campaign is to be non-partisan. I think they think they've got the base sewed up so they're going after leaning Democrats and independents. To start insulting Democrats at this stage might mean that they would lose some of those cross over democrats.

It's really frustrating because at the same time Obama is doing the opposite. He's being very partisan to try and keep those defecting democrats in his camp.

What about all of those absentee and early voters? There are hundreds of thousands or millions voting early. Those votes are already lost. McCain needs to let fly with whatever he has, sooner rather than later.

I agree. I would launch it between the second and third debates. That is so McCain can hammer Obama with the facts during the last debate.

Both sides are pointing the finger. Any undecideds out there are news bite kind of people so to go into that would most likely bore people away.

I’m sorry, but that is the truth. The people who pay attention already know who they are voting for. The others are not going to be swayed by boring “government stuff”.

Sad as that is.

He had plenty of opportunity to talk about it during the first debate but chose to concentrate on $18 billion of earmarks.

Second debate will focus on the economy --first was supposed to be foreign affairs

Clearly, Obama’s tactic is to tie McCain to Bush making the public believe that McCain is the same as four more years of Bush. I was surprised that Palin didn't try to break that link by association last night. McCain needs to convince the public he's on top of things, that he was forward-thinking two years ago when he spotted the problem, and that he has a viable way out of the mess. He also needs to place the blame at the foot of the Democrats shown in the videos and how the Republicans tried to get oversite but the Dems wanted nothing of it.

At this point, and given what is at stake, I really don't know how anyone could call him/herself independent OR undecided.

Stupid and lazy are the only explanations for ‘undecided’ or ‘independent’.

The voting has already started. It is anticipated that as much as one-third of the vote will have been cast prior to November 4. Ohio and VA have already started. I expect massive fraud in addition to the Obama camp rounding up the homeless and college students to vote [perhaps twice--once in the state where the college is located and once in their home state.]

Voters by the thousands will begin casting ballots for president this week in an early voting process that's expected to set records this year. Residents of Virginia, Kentucky and Georgia are among the first in the nation eligible to vote in person, as well as by mail. During the next few weeks, at least 34 states and the District of Columbia will allow early in-person voting for Nov. 4 elections.

Experts such as Paul Gronke of the Early Voting Information Center predict nearly a third of the electorate will vote early this year, up from 15% in 2000 and 20% in 2004. In closely contested Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico, about half the voters are expected to cast ballots before Election Day. Florida could be 40%.

I agree completely, which is why if McCain wants to win he needs to focus on Wright, Pfleger, Ayers, and marxism.

This campaign needs to focus on the fact that Obama is a radical marxist, racist, who hates America and is determined to destroy American values and take your money and property.

I think BOR looked like a boob and that is from somebody that hates Barney Frank

Everybody here looks at that from a biased viewpoint

For somebody that doesn’t know the facts about Barney all that shouting over somebody doesn’t help inform them

I think that McCain voting for the pork-laden bailout resulted in the grenade currently being glued to his hand.

You are right. Talking economic gobbely gook isn’t going to do anything. Showing Obama as the extremist he is and the company he keeps and showing that people should be FRIGHTENED of him is what he needs to do IMO.

If this is true then it seems McCain's team is screwing up but maybe the early voters are the TRUE BELIEVERs on both sides and nothing will change their minds whereas the undecideds wait until election day
