Clearly, Obama’s tactic is to tie McCain to Bush making the public believe that McCain is the same as four more years of Bush. I was surprised that Palin didn't try to break that link by association last night. McCain needs to convince the public he's on top of things, that he was forward-thinking two years ago when he spotted the problem, and that he has a viable way out of the mess. He also needs to place the blame at the foot of the Democrats shown in the videos and how the Republicans tried to get oversite but the Dems wanted nothing of it.

Actually Palin did a good job of distancing McCain from the Bush administration. She did it repeatedly, perhaps overusing the word maverick. I thought she was particularly effective against Biden chastizing him for finger pointing and going back into the past instead of looking to the future and telling the American people what they will do for them now and in the future.
