I watched parts of this live on FNC. I chuckled when McCain said something like, “The cause of this problem is not too far from here,” with Clinton only about 20 feet away! (To be fair, McCain was blaming Wall Street.)

He also said we need a strong economy to fight global warming.

Throw money down the bank hole so we can throw money down the global warming hole.

McCain wants several important modifications to the plan as it stands: greater accountability/oversight, taxpayer recovery of money put up, transparency in the implementation process for open scrutiny, NO EARMARKS!!, no ceo bonuses for those who are being helped.

He gave another clear, decisive speech. Very focused and determined.

If the future of the American economy is in danger, pull pork projects to fund the bail out.

If congress won’t tighten its own belt first, then they must not think the danger is very great.

That’s right. I have not changed my mind after hearing the Presidents speech.

I saw it as a challenge, getting the Dems to cross the isle and work together. Then again, with Dingy Harry in control it isn’t likely to occur. This makes McCain look good and they don’t want that. What the hell is McCain thinking, he wants to put the country first, the Dems don’t want that. (I’m PO’d at the Dem’s.) If it were up to me every member of Congress would be given a Lie Detector test before they served.

The premise of the bail-out is spend more of our money (borrow it first) so we can get ourselves out of this hole. It’s the same logic that justifies the earmarks...we’re spending money to stimulate the local economy, generate jobs, blah, blah, blah.

No earmarks and no bail-out, period.
