It has never been determined definitively by a court whether a person who acquired U.S. citizenship by birth abroad to U.S. citizens is a natural born citizen within the meaning of Article II of the Constitution and, therefore, eligible for the Presidency.

Many of us have read that State Department document. I'm rather surprised Obama and Hillary haven't changed the wording...

Congress has proven themselves UNABLE to resolved this Constitutional question. Amendments proposing to define the Constitutional requirement of "Natural Born Citizen" have been introduced in Congress subcommittee more than 28 times since the 1870s, only to have died in SUBcommittee -- EVERYTIME.

In order to force the SCOTUS to confront this, perhaps they need to hear a Civil Rights lawsuit (they love those cases) where someone wants to know if they can legally SERVE in the office of President, if elected. That person could sue the Federal Election Committee, the DNC, the RNC and the Sec of State for their state to FORCE them to come up with a universal definition of NBC -- they won't be able to, of course.

I would think that in a case like that, the SCOTUS would be compelled to define NBC because over nearly 140 years (really nearly 220 years), in context that Congress has NOT been able to come to a DEFINITE consensus on the definition of "natural born citizen".

Anyone know of a person, who has a parent that is NOT a US citizen, who would like to PUSH this issue?
