Thank you. I wasn’t sure. I checked Lincoln & after that, figured someone would know & save me the time of trying to track down an example.
I’m pretty sure that’s the only example, which kind of surprises me. I would have thought one of those 19th Century guys would have been born in a territory, but apparently not. East of the Mississippi got made into states pretty quickly, during that time when most presidents came from Virginia (7 of the first 12). Truman was the first president born west of the Mississippi.
