The Service does no checking to make sure the person signing up is, in fact, an American citizen.

I started pressing the SSS angle for a totally different reason. I had read a while back that the campaign had been very circumspect when answering questions re his SSS registration. One that comes readily to mind was a comment that..... approx. 800,000 young men of the era failed register. I just felt that IF he had not registered, would this be an individual we would want as CinC?

He can’t serve as CinC if he didn’t register. That is part of the Regs.
