Did you know that Madelyn Dunham worked for the escrow dept at Bank of Hawaii, better known as the ‘White’ bank and became manager in 1962? Think of the possibility of her knowing a ‘safe’ address to put down for the birth registration and announcement! Info at this link for racial attitude regarding renting in Hawaii at the time.

interesting snippet from the article link you posted:

Dunham rode a bus to get to her bank job, and one day had been approached by a man who pressured her for money.

"I gave him a dollar and he kept asking," Obama quoted his grandmother in the book. "If the bus hadn't come, I think he might have hit me over the head."

Obama referred to his grandmother as "Toot" — short for "tutu," the local word for grandparent. He wrote that he offered to drive her to the bank, telling his grandfather, "It's really no big deal."

"It's a big deal to me," Stanley told his grandson. "She's been bothered by men before. You know why she's so scared this time? ... (S)he told me the fella was black."

Obama then wrote, "The words were like a fist in my stomach, and I wobbled to regain my composure. In my steadiest voice, I told him that such an attitude bothered me, too, but assured him that Toot's fears would pass and that we should give her a ride in the meantime."

Although I have read this numerous times before, I am now getting a much clearer picture. Stanley Dunham was a loser who tried to make himself important by associating with marxists - whilst his wife went to work in a bank and probably supported them all. Notice, they had a car but she went by bus.

"She's been bothered by men before. You know why she's so scared this time?

I'll venture that any shenannigans re registration of birth with the Hawaii Health Department were engineered by Stanley Dunham.

You raise an interesting point. She could have chosen an address where no one was in residence at the time...possibly a mortgage default.
