Yes it is simple. 1. They greatly fear the Chinese police and army. 2. Tibetans are very compassionate as it has been a way of life for them, throughout society, for centuries.
The Main participants in the riot were the young peasants in rural area. Why? because those young tibetan peasants benefits much less from modernization than those Tibetan citizens,due to the lonely location and less education.
What were very poor rural kids doing in the city then? If they hang out in the city then they are not rural kids.

That is false. Every report shows that the monks were protesting peacefully until others started the riots. As I showed you in a previous link the ones who started the riots were Han Chinese policemen disguised as ethnic Tibetans.
