Wow! The Obama-Rev. Wright story accelerated at warp speed on Friday, so fast that I figured I better get what I've got up now. If I wait till I have time to catch up with all the latest developments, we'll fall behind the news cycle.
A quick recap. For 20 years Barack Obama has been a member of a church with a racist, hate-mongering pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Here's a quick sampling of the Wright Stuff:
"The government," Obama's pastor says, "wants us to sing God Bless America? No, no, no! Not God bless America. God damn America!"
Obama's pastor doesn't think we should be indignant over the murder of 3,000 innocent Americans on 9-11: "America's chickens are coming home to roost."
Obama's pastor calls America "the U.S. of KKKA."
VIDEO report of Wright saying these things
When asked about Wright's preachings in the past, Obama has said he doesn't think this is any big deal: "I don't think my church is particularly controversial."
Obama has brushed it off by saying his pastor "is like an old uncle who says things I don't always agree with."
Then there is this Wright beauty about Jesus, Obama, and Hillary, as heard in this VIDEO:
"Jesus was a poor black man who lived in a culture that was controlled by rich, white people. The Romans were rich, the Romans were Italian, which means they were European, which means they were white."
". . . why so many folk are hating on Barack Obama. He doesnt fit the mold: he aint white, he aint rich, and he aint privileged."
"Hillary was not a black boy raised in a single parent home. Barack was."
"Barack knows what it means to be a black man living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich, white people."
And most ironically:
"Jesus taught me how to love the hell out of my enemies and not to be reduced to their level of hatred, bigotry, and small-mindedness."
Now apparently on Friday, Obama claims to have not heard this garbage preached by the Spewer from the Sewer, Rev. Wright. But this calls into question several things about Obama: 1) Is he stupid, incompetent, or what, that he was not familiar with Wright's foamings? 2) Why has Obama not denounced the Rev. Wrong more strongly, or done so in the past? 3) Why does Obama continue to remain a member of this America-hating church? Why doesn't he leave? 4) Is Obama the guy who can unite America, when he belongs to a church that divides blacks against whites? And if Obama cannot even unite the Democrat Party, how can he unite America?
So now on the Ides of March, we present an ode to Obama and his spiritual mentor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, as written by your truly, Charles Henrickson, the wag tailoring the doggerel. Click and sing along!
(IF LOVIN' THE U.S. IS WRONG) I DON'T WANT TO HEAR WRIGHT
Tune: "(If Lovin' You Is Wrong) I Don't Want to Be Right" Original
If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright
If joinin' his church means hearin' his hatred
I'd up and change belongin' tonight
Obama, your pastor says it's a shame
It's a downright disgrace
America's problems, all the blame
Is the fault of the white man's race
Barack, you say it's the future
And healing is in your plan
But if you can't leave this kind of hate
Believe me, yes we can
If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright
If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright
Am I wrong to smell
The sewage he loves to spew?
Knowin' you wanna lead, then why do you waffle
Defendin' you know who?
And am I wrong to question
Your ability to unite,
Knowin' you got someone there at church
Dividin' black and white?
And are you wrong to give your tithe
To a racist man?
And is he wrong for tryin' to get God
Not to bless but instead to damn?
If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright
If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright . . .
Are you wrong to give your tithe
To a racist man?
And is he wrong for tryin' to get God
Not to bless but instead to damn?
If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright
If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright
I don't want to hear Wright
If it means hearin' his hatred
I don't want to hear Wright
If it means black against white . . .
PING!
LOL
Haha top ten.

I was just having this conversation on another thread yesterday, then again a few minutes ago. I'd asked these questions without the "/s" tag because I knew the answer: He'll never leave because he's part-and-parcel of this hate America garbage.
One poster pointed out that leaving the church isn't the issue. He should stay and work to correct the problem within the church. I replied that this would be true were it a doctrinal issue; one of faith and belief. But it isn't. It's spewing racist and anti-American garbage from the pulpit; issues that have no place in a church. If one were a common man, happy in Chicago and working every day, he may stay and work toward a solution. But when that man has national aspirations within the country that's being dissed, there's no explanation for staying other than commitment.
You know my history with the ELCA. I'm applying the logic I used when leaving that church to Obama's situation, when asking "When will Osamaobama leave Wright's church? I'm waiting", knowing full well he won't.
The Roe Conn show on WLS was discussing this yesterday afternoon. Roe himself held to the belief this will sink Obama in pennsylvania because Obama can't win there without the white male vote. I agree with him. And that argument can be applied nationwide. It all depends on how much mainstream play this gets.
Early bird bump!
Can’t believe there aren’t more than 10 up at this hour.
Hey Charles, can you write a song to the tune of ‘Hokey Pokey’ about the ‘Ol Okee Doke’?
Ladies and gentlemen
On behalf of all the people who have assembled here
I would merely like to mention if I may
That our unanimous attitude
Is one of lasting gratitude
For what our friend has done for us today
And therefore I would simply like to say
Thank you very much!
Thank you very much!
That’s the nicest thing that anyone’s ever done for me
I may sound Double-Dutch
But my delight is such
I feel as if a losing war’s been won for me
And if I had a flag I’d hang my flag out
To add a sort of final victory touch
But since I left my flag at home
I’ll simply have to say
Thank you very, very, very much!
Company
Thank you very, very, very much!
Tom Jenkins
Thank you very much!
Thank you very much!
That’s the nicest thing that anyone’s ever done for me
It sounds a bit bizarre
But things the way they are
I feel as if another life’s begun for me
Company
And if I had a cannon I would fire it
To add a sort of celebration touch
But since I left my cannon at home
I’ll simply have to say
Scrooge
Thank you very, very, very much!
Company
Thank you very, very, very much!
Thank you very much!
Thank you very much!
That’s the nicest thing that anyone’s ever done for me
It isn’t everyday
Good fortune comes my way
I never thought the future would be fun for me
And if I had a bugle I would blow it
To add a sort of ‘ow’s-your-father touch
But since I left my bugle at home
I’ll simply have to say
Thank you very, very, very much
Am I the only one who noticed BO was very nervous when he said he had never heard this "from the pews"? He looked like he was sitting on a cattle prod when talking. I wish that gal on Fox (The O'Reilly Factor - I think) who does the "body language" segment would analyze his posture during his answers. Methinks he is lying.
Charles first rose to anonymous fame with his Palm Beach Pokey which became the unofficial anthem of the 2000 post-election fiasco. Radio stations all over the country played that song without giving credit to the source.
I wasn't able to catch the things Obama said on Friday as he went into CYA mode. Can any of you guys bring me up to speed? What did he say in the HUffPo piece or in interviews? What all, and how strongly and how extensively, did BO renounce or denounce Wright's rants? What did he say about continuing to remain a member at that church? That sort of thing.
Again, PJ, if later you want to do a follow-up DUFU on the Wright Stuff--maybe reactions at HUffPo, DUmmieland, or KOmmieland--after this DUFU plays out (whether tonight or tomorrow), that might be a good idea.
BTW, the outdoor outing our church group was going to go on this morning has been postponed. Lots of rain.
I thought you made a nice connection to the "Jeremiah" of "Joy to the World (Jeremiah was a bullfrog)." Can you post your parody here?
Man, what a week! First the Spitz hits the fan, and now the Wright Stuff! Who gets Lowlife of the Week, Spitzer or Wright? Tie for first?
Rev. Wright has his own little cottage industry, manufacturing statements for the "Peace, Love & Tolerance Award." You got one in mind?
Barry and Crazy Ol' Uncle Jerry
LOL! I remember that.
