McCain can’t beat you and me.
Bush was VERY well liked before 04.
He had the power of the incumbency.
He had the power of the party untied with him.
He ran virtually uncontested and with tons of money.
He had the 110% support of the broken glass republicans who came out in forces and unity, working their asses off to GOTV and bring in every dime.
And still he came within one contested state of losing to an uber liberal NOBODY from the cobalt blue states of the NE.
McCain is going to be steamrollered in a landslide that will leave people pointing fingers and mumbling nonsense.

Mark Steyn I understand. There are MANY conservatives that can be given a platform that make sense.
If conservatives are going to rally to the cause of conservatives then, we should rally conservatives to the cause and not bring in a liberal in sheep clothing to rally conservatives to a liberal's cause. Sheesh.
The Repubs in DC have torpedoed the conservative base. McCain will bury the remains when he picks someone like Rudy to be his VP.
At that point I will be inclined to say:
We deserve everything we get.
What do you think they will start with? I guess they call him a lier first, then stupid, his collage grades which were low.

Who cares? There’s no difference between McCain and either of the Dems.
The best hope for the GOP is a stalemate at the DEM convention. Its a narrow hope, and its one that the GOP has no control over.
However, if the delegate count is close enough, with a slight Obama lead, but the superdelegates go to Clinton, then the dems will splinter badly. You see, democrats are racist at heart. If Clinton steals the election from Obama, blacks will cross-over to spite her. If Obama wins, some hispanics will cross over to McCain.
Another way of looking at that is the Dems VP choice. If Hillary wins, if she doesn’t pick Obama as VP she will really anger Obama’s black supporters and others who got excited about them running together at the last kissyfest debate. Down side for her if she does pick him is he will get more media attention than her and is a much better orator. She can’t stand being upstaged by anyone.
However if he wins I don’t think he needs her at all, and by not choosing her I don’t think he will do his run too much harm.

The 4 Million to 4.7 million are the McCain v Romney numbers, they have been reported in many places, this is a copy of a story mentioning them in Christian Science Monitor.

4.7 Million votes for McCain is a plurality. The definition of a plurality is the winner with the largest number of votes that is also less than an outright majority of 50%.
My point stands. McCain has not won a majority of Republicans.
Total votes cast in 21 GOP contests yesterday among McCain, Romney and Huckabee:
McCain: 43.1% (3,611,459)
Romney: 35.4% (2,961,834)
Huckabee: 21.5% (1,796,729)

That’s still a plurality for McCain after Thompson, Guiliani and some other guys were out of the race.
My point stands: Even on Super Tuesday when the field was thin, McCain can’t get a majority of Republican Votes.
Yea yea.. and the next primary vote when he does top well over 50% of the vote, are you going to continue this rediculous claim?
McCain has won by getting more REPUBLICAN votes than anyone else, in a field of 3 he trounced the competitors my friend.
TO claim that 43% of the votes in a 3 way race is symbolic that McCain can’t get votes is nonsense.
Romney is gone.. care to take a guess how many of Romney’s voters will now go to McCain?, and how many will go to Mitt? I guarantee you McCain will get far more of the vote than Huck.
The assumptions by those here that those who planned on voting on someone other than McCain are all as rabid as they are against McCain is nonsense. Mitt was few persons first choice, and Huckabee has no chance of anything signficant.
After most of the states, voters, competitors, and delegates have gone by the wayside, McCain can finally top 50%.
What a winner.
