'Twas the week before Caucus, and all through the state,
Not a creature was stirring, the blizzard won't wait.
But conservatives were troubled by scary dreams,
That some of the players weren't who they seemed.
The candidate's finish seemed to be set,
But the events of '03 some seemed to forget.
With Kerry in the polls at just four percent,
But out of Iowa with a victory he went.
"Fred's not got a chance," the pundits did chatter,
"If you think that he does, you're mad as a hatter."
These are the "experts" who got it all wrong,
When four years ago they sang their proud song.
They were so sure it would be Howard Dean,
Who'd take Iowa by storm,'cause he led by thirteen.
But Iowa voters made 'em eat their words,
When poor Mr. Dean finished no better than third.
This time it's the Huckster who's up in the lead,
And would have you think that it's all a done deed.
But each time that the governor opens his mouth,
He says things that make his voters go south.
Mitt Romney is struck with a similar affliction,
He's told tall tales that have proved to be fiction.
Poor Rudy has fallen almost out of sight,
For his political postions are not on the right.
On LA Times! On Politico's Roger Simon!
On with the hit pieces! On with the lyin'!
It'll do you no good! It won't stop big Fred!
His '94 victory turned their faces all red!
With many undecided and even more who might switch,
Predicting Iowa is really a b*tch.
Fred Thompson knows as he heads down the stretch,
There's plenty of votes that he can still fetch.
So he's off on a bus tour of the good Haweye State,
After winning hands down the most recent debate.
Mitt got Tancredo, but Fred got Tanc's top guy,
Who was immediately campaigning for Fred on the fly.
And I heard Fred exclaim, as he stumped with Steve King,
"This thing ain't over 'til the fat lady sings."
Bravo !
LOL!!!!! I love it. This one is going to get sent on my Fred Thompson e-mail group.
OUTSTANDING! JUST OUTSTANDING! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
FRED THOMPSON - NATIONAL SECURITY EXPERT (Ill protect the American people and American values, whatever it takes to stop the Islamic-Fascists including water-boarding) - 2ND AMENDMENT ADVOCATE (arming the People to disarm criminals) INCREASE THE MILITARYS STRENGTH AND SIZE (giving those brave men and women a Commander in Chief to be proud of) - SECURE AND SEAL THE BORDERS (dont give sanctuary anywhere to illegals, dont employ illegals, dont rent to illegals, dont extend credit to illegals, dont give illegals rights they dont deserve, report all crimes committed by illegals and deport those illegals who have already committed crimes against America) - LAW AND ORDER (enforcement first and foremost with laws currently on the books) DENY FEDERAL DOLLARS TO SANCTUARY CITIES (enough is enough) CONSERVATIVE JUSTICES FOR SUPREMES (those who will interpret the law, not create rights that do not exist) PRO-LIFE ADVOCATE (nominate superior Constitutional Justices to overturn Roe vs Wade) - SOCIAL SECURITY REFORMER (reform a broken program that cant sustain itself and will bankrupt future generations, with the added benefit of private savings accounts) - DEFEAT ANY DEMOCRAT AND RINO (any fool DemocRATS put up) TAX SIMPLIFICATION (variety of choice for the tax payer) - WONT PUT UP WITH CRAP FROM THE MSM (including stupid questions by moderators and pundits) - WE THE PEOPLE CANDIDATE (We the People asked him to run and he stepped up) - PING!
Well done.
Merry Christmas, Fred! I’ve got two bumperstickers of you on my car! Too bad I am not in Iowa. YOU CAN DO IT!
Not only is Fred the one to beat the Dem nominee but Fred can be a President we can be proud of for the next 8 years, as well. No other candidate can make that claim.
I will point out that Duncan Hunter is a better man for the job though.
Fred will be fortunate if he finishes third in Iowa, and he’s not going to do well in New Hampshire, either.
I’m not running his campaign, obviously, but instead of him making courtesy stops at crossroads in Iowa, he needs to be spending his time in South Carolina, a more favorable venue.
He could win South Carolina. He can’t win Iowa or New Hampshire.
......... never say "never".
True enough, but the political tides have severely shifted.
Romney, who spent his fortune making sure he’d win Iowa and New Hampshire, doesn’t look like he’ll win Iowa. He may hold in on New Hampshire, but his strategy to blast the others in early wins doesn’t look so good right now.
Huckabee looks good in Iowa, and not so good in New Hampshire. Whether he can be yesterday’s headline and still draw the funds to compete in Super Duper Tuesday is quite questionable.
But at least he got his own song.

At this point, my guy (Hunter) is toast...
I’m not happy with Mitt, McCain, or Rudy. Fred Thompson has possibilities but he seriously needs to tack right to get the ship righted. The Huckster, is a social liberal who happens to oppose abortion..sorry he’s just another RINO.
Thompson has had nearly all year to get it right, and he hasn’t managed to do it yet. He’s flat running out of time.
He may be leading in South Carolina; I haven’t seen any polls lately.
But if he’s not, I’m not sure where he wins. February 5 could put him impossibly behind.
Spending this week in the cornfields of Iowa doesn’t seem like a long-term winning strategy. Florida, South Carolina, Michigan, and the 22 states of Feb 5 will be here in a heartbeat.
I like Fred, but he’s run just a horrible campaign from a strategic level. He’s done well with putting out his position papers on Social Security, etc., but they got one day of media coverage. He’s done nothing to make sure they stay front and center.
Ron Paul is outcampaigning him, for chrissakes.
Well said.
Thompson / Hunter ‘08
Oh my gosh, that song should be played while people look at the Huckster’s old Christmas Card. Hideous.
Hunter would make a fantastic Veep and he will be ready to serve as Pres in 4-8 years.
Ron Paul : The Fruit Cake that keeps on giving.
I must disagree here. I see so much Hunter support in this board. This is positive since he is consistently on the right side of most issues. There are a few gaping holes in Old Duncan though....
First, to me, as a former resident of his district, and having met him twice, and listened to him speak on several occasions, he is absolutely unlikeable. He is smug, arrogant, and has poor manners. He is the guy at the Cadillac dealership. Selling a piece of crap, and talking it up like its God’s gift. He is rude, and looks down upon everyone who meets with. That smug smile in the debates, thats his attitude to people. ‘You are not worthy’. Of course, this is personal, but I doubt that I’m the only one who recognizes an A hole when they see one.
2nd point: being solid conservative is what has kept him in power as a career politician. His district is nearly all military and military families. He votes the way he does, cause thats his bread money, maybe he believes it, maybe not. Hard to tell. When being pro-military, having a 90% pro-military consticuency is very easy.
Many believe Duncan to be very consistent. He is, but the reasons why are not clear. Is it because he really is, or just because he runs in line with the vast majority of voters in his area, and wants to keep power.
Sorry, I don’t trust Hunter for 1 second .My basis for this is, I rarely, if ever trust a career politician, and Duncan embodies this. He has worked for the government his entire life in any meaningful way, that makes him a non-conservative out of the gate, so those who say he is the ONLY conservative, you are wrong, he is possibly the most establishment-career-politician-gambler in the repub nomination. He is now passing his house seat on to his son, such as a king, and taking YOUR money to finance it. This guy is inside politics to the limit. Not my cup of tea.Sorry to offend, the many I probably did, but Duncan is no savior. He is in this game for his own benefit, not to attempt to turn this county towards a brighter course. He retires, takes a huge pension, and lives off the government. His son takes his old job and eventually does the same. This is not the DNA of a leader.
“I will point out that Duncan Hunter is a better man for the job though.”
We all know this...
But like Duncan, Fred ALSO doesn’t have a snowball’s chance.
