What a waste. Wayne Sayles is overreacting. It's one thing to care deeply about the culture, history and coinage of Cyprus and another to turn on the USG. We're all Americans. Sayles should keep his opinions positive without causing trouble. Maybe someone can give that ambitious old geezer an alternative way to spend all that extra time he has on his hands. It's a big world with more than a few coins to look for. Ultimately for Sayles, it's about finding another interesting relic... That's why we collect, isn't it?

While hoarding coins due to their value goes back to the beginning of coinage, collecting coins as pieces of art was a later development. Known as the "Hobby of Kings", modern coin collecting is generally believed to have begun in the fourteenth century with the Italian scholar and poet Petrarch. Notes of Roman emperors having coin collections have also been found, but it remains somewhat unclear whether these coins were studied, considered curiosities or merely hoarded.

“Sayles should keep his opinions positive without causing trouble.”

Good grief, he’s dealing with the government. Remaining positive and not causing trouble will get you nowhere.
