Mike Huckabee? Are you kidding? Who are you people?

Arkansas Governer Mike Huckabee suddenly seems to be the established GOP savior. True, he is great on the stump. He is and should be a preacher. But president? NOT if you're a conservative!

Remember, a lot of Arkansans voted for a Clinton presidency so they could get him out of the state! Most of them feel as uninspired about the Huckster. YES, I do mean Huckster.

I made a prediction a few months back, that Huckabee would get a GOP push, that he would be perfect pick to them to balance out a moderate Rudy type candidate with his southern charm and religiosity. Now, I'm convinced of it.

A wise observer stated one of Huck's problems perfectly, "Yep Huckabee is his own man alright, except when it comes to illegal immigration. Then he’s George Bush."

Huck talks some good lines on immigration in the debates, but look at some recent statements he's made. In other words, does this man stand by his own policies? One thing that has angered Arkansans is that Huck financed a Mexican Consulate in Little Rock with their tax dollars and insisted on alien children be admitted to college!

LITTLE ROCK -June 30, 2005 - In a impassioned speech before hundreds of influential Hispanic civil rights leaders from across the nation, Gov. Mike Huckabee told a captive audience Wednesday that America is great because it has always opened it doors up to people seeking a better way of life.

"I would hope that no matter who we are, or where we are from, that America should always be a place that opens its arms, opens it heart, opens its spirit to people who come because they want the best for their families ...," Huckabee said as the largely Hispanic audience gave him a standing ovation.

Huckabee was the keynote speaker, along with Tyson Foods Inc. Chairman and CEO John Tyson, at a noon luncheon of the League of United Latin American Citizens, which is holding its 76th annual convention in Little Rock.

In his opening remarks, he said the nation will need to address the concerns of the Hispanic community because of its growing influence and population base.

"Pretty soon, Southern white guys like me may be in the minority," Huckabee said jokingly as the crowd roared in laughter. He told the LULAC delegates that their presence in the state's capital city was very important because Arkansas has one of the fastest growing Hispanic populations in the nation.

"Your gathering is so very significant for our state," Huckabee said. "We are delighted to have you......"

He has compared illegal aliens to slaves brought here in chains from Africa, saying, "I think frankly the Lord is giving us a second chance to do better than we did before."

Toward that end, when an Arkansas legislator introduced a bill that would prevent illegal aliens from voting and receiving state benefits, Huckabee denounced the bill, saying it would rile up "those who are racist and bigots."

He also made the insane point that companies like Toyota would not invest in Arkansas if the state didn't allow non-citizens to vote because it would "send the message that, essentially, 'If you don't look like us, talk like us and speak like us, we don't want you.'

One other bone of contention is shown in this video, where Huckabee Calls for National Smoking Ban in Public Places. Nanny state, anyone?

Ann Coulter sums it up:

"Like all the (other) Democratic candidates for president, he supports a federal law to ban smoking -- unless you're an illegal alien smoking at a Toyota plant. (I just realized why Mike Huckabee can't run for president as a Democrat -- they've already got Mike Gravel.)"

He was a complete illegal alien protector type that whined about them not given enough in the way of welfare.
He wanted to give illegal aliens access to state tuition and loans at Arkansas colleges.
He did switch to be against illegal aliens when he threw his hat in the wing.
Maybe the worst was the $5.25 per day tax on all Nursing Home Patients not on Medicare.

He does speak well but so do nearly all preacher types.

Huck is one of those Christians that seems to think its our Christian duty to abolish borders and let every third world poverty case come here. He also wants to be our nanny in chief on health issues. He’s certainly no Federalist.

Do you have a nascent stop the liberal serial tax raising, open borders, nanny state Huckster too? We are also getting one started.

Stop the Huckster Ping List

pissant, I see the train coming down the track from miles away....A gun grabbing baby killer in Giuliani gets the nomination and then feels he needs a left wing theocrat whose only two conservative positions are Rudy's weakness....guns and abortion. The Huckster gets tapped as VP. Than it becomes BABY KILLER/NANNY STATER '08!

There are those who yearn so much for the spotlight they become preachers, governors or actors and run for president. And then we have those who yearn so much for the salvation of their country they will pay any price for it to run for president.

There we have the Romneys, the Giulianis, the Huckabees, and the Thompsons. And then we have the Hunters and the Tancredos.

As Laura would say, have Americans become so ‘pornogorized’
that they can’t appreciate the diffference?

Myself , pissant, ob1knob are starting a ping list to enlighten the rest of the FR community of his serial tax raising, open borders, smoker banning, obesity crusading liberal agenda. I figured this would be a good place to start.

If Anybody wants to be on the Stop Huckster ping list, please let me know. Gabz, SheLion let me know if you or any of the people on your nanny state ping lists would be interested as well.

If we let this nanny stater gain higher office or even a VP nomination, it sends a message to every other public serpent in the country that there is no negative political cost for discriminating against smokers, eaters, drinkers etc. It says to the world “Feel free to dump on the smokers, they obviously like it since someone can kick them out of bars and then still run for President as a Republican.”

We need to send a message that is loud and clear...if you want to ban smokers or crusade for fat taxes....there will be a price to pay.

Who’s with us?

No thanks. Huckabee is conservative enough for me to vote for, but I’ll keep supporting Hunter. I would crawl through broken glass for Hunter, but for Huckabee I might say, “best of luck”. No Giuliani = no problem.

Yeah, it made me sick, all the sycophants patting him on the back for his statements on health care, and the cost pressures on the system when he’s going around saying, out of the other side of his mouth, that anybody that opposes illegals is a racist.
