Ron Paul received 216 votes for a commanding first-place finish in a straw poll today sponsored by the West Alabama Republican Assembly. Mitt Romney came in second with 14 votes.
The poll was open to Alabama residents.

“Sounds like another leftist position to me. Weve got to understand why they hate us and all that baloney.”
I don’t think this is necessarily a leftist position. If they hate us because we are free, are wealthy, like football or because we have “violated” some holy site and are willing to kill us for it we should try to find out.
Why do we continue to let Muslims in the country?
If we had understood why they hate us perhaps we could have kept them out and should deport all non U.S. citizens from Muslim countries ?
I think it is foolish not to try to understand what we are up against .
Likely he would have immediately asked Congress for a full declaration of war, instead of waiting to see what the "international community" thinks.
We sure aren’t getting many “Ron whos” anymore.
Are you implying that these votes should be disregarded because they don't represent the MSM/GOP establishment template?
Had it been any other candidate you'd be bloviating about how strong that candidate is.
216 votes.
That's almost enough to get elected Homecoming Queen at a small school.
I guess an anthill is a landslide.
His supporters are vocal and enthusiastic. They're not the kooks that the MSM and GOP establishment make them out to be.
Or, does that mean that his numbers are wrong and those voting for him are "loud-mouthed kooks"? Which is it??
Paul's numbers aren't wrong. His base of supporters are being smeared as a bunch of kooks, thanks in part to the MSM and GOP establishment who can't comprehend why people are excited over Paul, and the minority of far left and far right fanatics who are trying to capitalize on Paul's campaign.
We went into Afghanistan on October 7th. That was nearly a month later after the attacks.
Ron Paul is a good old line conservative in a few ways, and very much a libertarian. But some of that philosophy has to be reworked in the 21st century. I am not saying abandoned it, but allow it to fit the realities of our current world. Until everyone is conservative, we will not get very far relying on our most extreme beliefs.
You are so bad...
I hate it when that happens!
And I am not joking, I really do respect that. So from a hippie liberal globalist faux conservative to a radical hyper conservative bunch of nut jobs, my hats off to you...
Paul won another straw poll in New Hampshire today...right next door to Romney’s Massachusetts. Funny how these ‘straw polls’ are considered irrelevant; but if a similar sampling is used in a phone poll; they are quoted as gospel. (If the results go the right way; that is.)
I was checking my birth certificate a momment ago...
Them nuts is my people...
That's not "funny," that's science. Ever study statistics? Do you understand "random sampling" and how it is corrupted by "self-selection?"
Good grief.
I'm sure a lot of people do that, though.
Damn man, they had to pack, but the orders were cut with in two days. I know, I was sitting next to two buddies when they came down. Best and saddest steak dinner I had in years..
Man, I hope you are not a pilot...
