LOL, this is the lame of lame. A Rudybot trying to make abortion an issue. Get real. Mr. Rudy wants taxpayers funded abortion, while Thompson has a perfect pro-life voting record. Please make abortion an issue Rudybots.

The big difference is that Thompason says he’s solidly prolife now. He has come around.

How’s Rudy doing on that one?

No federal funding, just immunity to murder an innocent human being!

NARAL RATINGS:

Fred Thompson: 0%

Rudy Giuliani: 100%

Still trying to spin this one, aren’t you?

I see from your profile that you’re a Rudy supporter. What does he have to say about abortion?

“I’m pro-choice. I’m pro-gay rights,” Giuliani said. He was then asked whether he supports a ban on what critics call partial-birth abortions. “No, I have not supported that, and I don’t see my position on that changing,” he responded.

—CNN.com, “Inside Politics” Dec 2, 1999

What’s your point?

Et tu with the FUD? Et tu?

I was just beginning to believe that you didn’t actually work for Rudy’s campaign.

Bwahhaaaa, none of your annointed ones are going to pass the litmus test unscathed. Looks like even Fred has his skeletons in the closet.

This is still Rudy’s position today.

But NARAL gives Fred an F.

So sad for you.

Give it up will you? You’ve been cluttering up the board with this tripe for too long now. It’s hasn’t scored you any points and will not score you any points.

I have found that a lot of men who haven’t had a pregnant woman in their lives thinking about abortion, and haven’t been in public office, will say that abortion is the “woman’s choice”. It doesn’t cost them anything, and they haven’t really thought it over.

The “no government tax money” but “let the woman choose” is the perfect libertarian response IF you are not personally convinced that the fetus is human, and a surprising number of otherwise smart people have not thought about it.

To Thompson’s credit, whenever he had to make an actual vote related to the issue, he thought it through carefully, and determined to vote the pro-life side. And by 2000, he had decided his position was more closely related to the “pro-life” side.

He now sounds firmly pro-life. Of course, I trust Romney is also now pro-life, because I believe in the power of truth to convince people that the pro-life position is the only valid position.

If I were a single-issue voter, I would be firmly in Romney’s camp as the only viable republican who I firmly believe is completely pro-life in word and deed (odd given how much he paid homage to “woman’s right to choose” in the past, but he even has a passable view of embryonic stem cell research).

But I have no doubt Thompson will speak clearly to the rights of the unborn, and will appoint strict constructionist judges who will be predisposed to support life. Plus his judges are unlikely to rule CO2 is a pollutant.

And being a well-spoken man, I know that, with God’s help, Thompson could be the man to turn the tide for the unborn, because in the end what we need is a firm but lovable spokesperson to convince women that, even IF they have the right to choose, the appropriate choice is to have their babies.

Meanwhile some candidates want my tax dollars to pay for abortions.

Fred is right. The (federal) governemnt should stay completley out of it. Don’t ignore the first part of the paragraph, and just focus on the last.

I also thought it was funny that the blog called this “breaking news”. It’s hardly breaking news that in 1994, Thompson called himself pro-choice. Breaking News would be if he said that today in an interview.

We all manage to justify the opinions, actions, life-style etc of someone we support, and criticize the identical approach of someone we don’t support or as in the case on some on this forum....detest.

No public financing.

That settles it for me. Thompson is head and shoulders above Giuliani.

Giuliani refers to abortion as a Constitutional right and calls for the return of welfare abortions.

Interesting. What is Thompson’s position on homosexual marriage? If he is for it, he may give Giuliani a run for his money.
