Fred Thompson in 1994: Let The Woman Decide - Monday, April 09, 2007 @ 3:06:23 PM
|
During his first run for the U.S. Senate, Fred Thompson said in an interview to a libertarian Republican newsletter that the ultimate decision to have an abortion "must be made by the woman."
The comments were made in the July/August issue of Republican Liberty, the official newsletter of the Republican Liberty Caucus.
In the interview, Thompson was asked: "Some conservatives got flustered by your comments on abortion and Roe vs. Wade. Would you like to explain your position on abortion?"
Thompson answered: "Government should stay out of it. No public financing. The ultimate decision must be made by the woman. |

Oh, no doubt. I’m not so sure about creating a ton of new threads with old news stories as though they were just breaking; I’d rather see them excerpted and linked throughout discussions.
But, if one side does it, it’s certainly fair for the other side. At least until Jim stops it.
So I guess it is o.k. for Fred to change his mind, but not o.k. for Mitt????
There’s some Thorazine in there somewhere too.
“It figures the truth comes out when you get upset enough.”
It’s a conservative website. Why should it be surprising someone doesn’t want to listen to people shilling for a big time liberal candidate?
Listen buddy. I’ve been over this with the Rudy haters from the beginning. We are not leaving until JR or the mods tell us to. We give money and we’ve been here a long time.
Duncan Hunter is the only viable GOP candidate who has been, is and always will be PRO-LIFE.
“So I guess it is o.k. for Fred to change his mind, but not o.k. for Mitt????”
Maybe you missed the part that fred was endorsed by pro life groups, had a solid pro life voting record in the senate, and a big fat ZERO rating from NARAL.
Still alive and kicking over here in GR.
How aobut you? How far away are you from Troy, where the shootings were today?
Oh come ON!!!
EVERY single VOTE Fred Thompson cast on this issue was pro-life...
If Fred is iffy on abortion, then Rudy is the obvious pick.
If you are going to quote someone then you should accuratly give credit to the author “Posted By: Philip Klein”
which links to the American Libertarian blog site.
You should have posted the original source on the libertrian blog site, not tried to buy credibility by linking to a blog that linked to another blog.
I don’t hate Rudy. I hate his liberal, abortion-loving, gungrabbing positions.
About 12 miles, in Southfield. I wrote down the car description and license # but he took off the other direction toward Saginaw.
I posted from American Spectator not that site. I have to use the link provided from American Specator and excerpt it. I did it correctly and that’s all I am concerned about.
I figured I'd get an answer like that. The 'acceptable' timeline for enlightenment seems to depend on what serves the agenda of the poster.
Get back to us when Fred speaks before NARAL.
That's all fine and heart-string tugging, but your election views are at odds with the website's mission statement.
The letter of the law, but the spirit of an abortion-loving liberal.
Why can’t handle don’t want to see articles questioning Fred Thompson of the supposed favorite Freeper candidate of the month or are we suppose to shut up ???
I was talking about posting ding dong.
