This is absolutely true. If I use the word "democrat" or worse the word "liberal" while arguing politics with my very "liberal" sister, I am immediately corrected with the word "progressive". It is so easy to get under her skin by simply using the word "liberal" in a normal conversation.

My wife often comments on this by saying that even the liberals have finally decided that the word "liberal" is a dirty word to most of America. I guess the word "democrat" is now a dirty word too.

At least my SIL owns up to the label "liberal". When I want to irritate her, icall her a socialist or a commie (depending on the topic we are discussing).

She got really pi$$ed when I referred to her copy of the NYSlimes as "Pravda".
