"I'm curious- were you warning complacent Republicans that they had better address illegal immigration or risk losing Congress?"

"Or are you part of the faction that said nothing, and now want to blame conservatives for Republicans losing the House?'

Neither. I don't think there is 'a reason' republicans lost the house. The GOP lost 29 seats or so. Each loss had it's own reasons. When you add it all up there were several reasons why we lost. However, here on FR, everyone with a pet peeve before the election is now claiming that all these losses would not have occured 'if only...'.

That said, look at how the democrats did take control. They did not insist upon ideological purity. They recruited candidates hand-tailored to specially selected districts. These candidates were called conservatives but in reality, they were as liberal as each district would accept and still win election. We, as conservatives, need to steal this page and recruit similar candidates for similar districts. They won't be as conservative on all issues as I would like, but they will be as conservative as they can be and still win back the majority. We do this, or we remain a minority.

We, as conservatives, need to grasp the fact that politics is like football, you win by maintaining possession of the ball and by making small incremental gains. This country is too narrowly divided to think that every district in every state will elect the same type of conservative.

Give the man a see-gar! I'm always amazed by those folks who can divine a Grand Message out of a national election. I figure it's a sideline business for a lot of them, horse race tip-sheets being their real job.
