Time for a new FreeRepublic folding@home thread.
Our FreeRepublic team of 358 members comprised primarily of Free Republic members in good standing have banded together to donate their excess CPU cycles to a worthy cause. Via distributed computing, millions of computers around the world, contribute directly to scientific research, in the quest for a greater understanding of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Mad Cow (BSE).
Currently, the team is in 75th place (with 1009 active CPUs - 55,700 completed Work Units and 9.75 million points).
This is an entirely voluntary program, and if you want to learn more, please see the links posted below (or read one of the previous 20 folding threads)
I have stopped tracking the DUmmies since they are irrelevant.
Here I am overseas, and I've noticed that at least 4 of my systems have gone down due to a power failure and won't be back up for at least a week (probably 3). For those afraid of me passing you, you're probably reasonably safe.
For those seeking to pass me, remember it is only a temporary condition and I still have at least 3 up and running (most likely 4).
I should still make it to 42 later today, not sure when I'll make it to 41.
I only have four CPUs reporting via Egon's FAH Monitor. Four others are linux-based machines and I have yet to take the time to configure them to report.
No matter how many machines I add (and I'm at my limit unless I upgrade a couple of machines) I don't seem to make up much ground on you.
After reading the travails of JosephW, I never underestimate the possibilities of ridiculous events happening.
Now, where is that public library that I've been meaning to borg?
You should definitely make some ground now. You have more machines than me. I've really gotten lucky with quick turn, high point ones. I'm in Germany till the end of next week (possibly 2 more weeks after that), so I can't boot those systems that are down.
My fastest machine is up, but it's slower than what you're adding. Most of mine are older machines as well. A few P4 1.8GHz (3 notebooks), Sempron 2800+ (2), Athlon 64 3200+ (I think that's the speed, it's my fast one), P4 3.2GHz (notebook that's down), misc garbage that probably suck more watts than folds (the rest of them)
It'll be nice to have you catch up, then we can battle our way slowly to the top 25.
Woo Hoo ---- I'll overtake DU in total points somewhere around the midnight update, for the second time. I had my little lag in April,May,June, but I'm fully recovered, and plan on leaving them in the dust, and plan on building up a big lead, so they won't have an opportunity to overtake me next summer.
3 million points in about 10 days, and then top 100 of all folders, within 3 weeks....
That's gotta sting.
LTCJ, nice to see some numbers appear for you. I was afraid something had happened to your systems or you (my taunting was of course all in fun).
Well as I mentioned in an earlier post, I'm going to be very slow for the next 1-3 weeks so both you and JCEccles will be catching up. Won't be long before we are in a line pushing through all the others.
Nice to see you back.
Whatever you do, do NOT look in your rear view mirror.
Bring it! ;)
Lost a WU last night...

nice touch, the "Thanx for Using Gromacs -- have a nice day!"
Looks like a work unit code error, that they didn't catch. What
Standford does in cases like that, once they start seeing several of them, they'll yank that workunit off line, and post
partial credit to the users who got stuck with it.
They don't notify anyone when they do so, because of logistics, but you will eventually receive credit.
There is no record of it sending anything back. Just error then delete. Usually it says something about sending bad units back, this time nothing. I received an identical WU afterwords. After 13 hours lost, I hope it doesn't happen again.
The WU is:
p1487_DPPC_DOPC_CHOL
stanford says it is worth 1161 points.
You have about 800 days till I blow your doors off (verrry slowly) ;)
Congrats to davemaher for breaking 200,000 points !!!!!!
WTG !!!

I never figured out how to get Linux to auto-run the script (I think you're supposed to use ChronTab, but I'm not sure), so I just configured the script as if it was on a Windows machine and put it in the Linux machine's FAH fold folder. Then, on one of my Windows systems, I used Scheduler to access the Linux box and run the script. Darned if that didn't work, LOL.
Try that and see if it works for you. It doesn't take long to set it up.
Good Luck.

It's a Dr. Pepper Protein??? No wonder it's worth 1161 points, LOL.
