Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I somehow don't recall Washington, Madison, Jackson, Cleveland, and Coolidge (my favourite five 'great' Presidents) relying on political/media advisors.

I have a rather enjoyable fantasy notion about what Andrew Jackson would have done with the likes of Dick Morris or Donna Brazile.
