PRT's are pretty important.

The commandos' work will be focused on protecting Army and RAF who are setting up the infrastructure for the follow-on deployment of 16 Air Assault Brigade in the summer.

Their main task is to staff and protect a new British-led Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) at Lashkar Gar, the capital of Helmand province.

It's beginning to look like each PRT in hostile territory is going to have most of a brigade in support.

I note from the link that 150 marines from 42 Commando will be the first of the new deployment/

42 Commando has had a number of jobs over the years.

It is part of 3 Commando Brigade (40, 42 and 45 Commando with arti by 29th Field Regt. Royal Artillary).

All 3 commando units participated in the assault on Port Stanley in the Falklands.

42 Commando was the embarked commando aboard HMS Ocean as part of the task force built around HMS Illustrious that fostered some clearer thinking on the par of the RUF when it deployed to Sierra Leone.

It was also part of the invasion of Iraq and has been previously deployed to Afghanistan.
