The recent change of government in Canada reminded me of my familys long ties to Canada.
My great uncle served in World War I with the 42nd Rainbow Divisions artillery under a young Douglas MacArthur and served alongside soldiers from Canada, while my mothers brother was a member of the New York State Police and its elite BCI unit and worked a number of cases with the RCMP. But it was my father who had the most intense relationship with the men from the Great White North.

The first Canadian I ever met was in the US Army in 1960. He came from Canada to join the Army and became a US citizen. He told me that the US had a better army and he wanted to be a career military man. He was a good man and was killed in Vietnam during his second tour of duty. He was {obviously} a true volunteer.
