Ya, and I heard that she and President Bush kick puppy dogs too. I bet she may even drive an SUV !!!
Has the thought ever occured to the bushbots that she has been chosen to fail ? There is no way the Senate is going to give a pass to someone with absolutely no judicial experience whatsoever just because James Dobson likes her.
Has it occurred to Christian conservatives that we are being set up to go down in defeat behind a totally unqualified candidate ?
crouch and his wife are exactly what the Bible says not to be...
And, what is that???
I hope you sensed the invisible sarcasm tags on that last post.
Absent a public disclosure or advocacy, why in the world is this a bit of your business?
Yep. :-)

Because same-sex attraction disorder is a mental disorder, and mental disorders cannot be compartmentalize. They have effects on every corner of a person's thinking.
Because same-sex attraction disorder is a spiritual disorder, and spiritual disorders cannot be compartmentalize. They have effects on every corner of a person's character.
Character counts, and a person who suffers from same-sex attraction disorder has a serious character problem.
No, no, no, no, no.
Follow the link and read what it says.
This stuff about gay adoption and international criminal court is drawn from an AGENDA FOR DISCUSSION at a bar association conference. Miers didn't recommend support for either of those items, nor for the many other items on the agenda.
compartmentalize => compartmentalized
Both Jen up above and you have very good valid points. She obviously will not bring down the wrath of the obstructionist lefties over a frothing Rightist like , say, Brown, Luttig, or McConnel and truly I would love that battle of judicial philosophy, and she at 60 could have 15 years of legit impact on the Court if and only if she really is a strict constructionist. Who knows? Perhaps too, Stevens will resign in the next 2 years, giving W a third chance and Luttig will be only 52, Brown, 51 so that could really be in the offing. Possible. Still, the risk is always, is she not the anti-Warren, but Souter. We shall see. Now is the not the time to derail all of the Bush agenda over this, because 2006 looms near and John Fund today posited that without Right support, the House and Senate could both be in jeopardy. That is not an option for me.
There are 300 Christian Texas women in my homeschool support group. I'd put any one of them on the Court rather than 90% of the judges working today. Miers will be a great addition, I think.

No. it's an independent Church. The pastor has served as pastor at Southern Baptist conventions, though.
That has already been shot down twice. She was President of this group of lawyers that submitted many suggestions. They were not her suggestions. Why are you being so hateful to a decent Christian Believer, Educated woman who leads an exemplary life, and is well qualified and intelligent? I hope you will look deep within yourself and openly apologize for your un-Christian behavior.
Ginsberg?'
*sigh*
no.

So much for Article VI
Ummmm, actually it is Article III, and last time I checked going to church wasn't a prohibition against being a SCOTUS judge. I believe the only qualification in fact is to be nominated by the President with the advice and consent of the Senate.
But don't let the facts get in the way of a snide remark.
(Isn't she a United Methodist?

Yes, it is an independent church, affiliated with the Christian Church/Churches of Christ. This is not to be confused with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), or the separate group of Churches of Christ (known for no musical instruments in worship), both of which are more prevalent in Texas. All three groups share a similar history, though the Disciples denomination is much more liberal these days. The Christian Church/Churches of Christ is a conservative evangelical denomination.
Yes, Barry McCarty, now the teaching pastor of Ms. Miers' church, is known in Southern Baptist circles as the parliamentarian at SBC annual conventions. He was brought in at the height of the SBC conservative-moderate battles as an impartial parliamentarian, and as an expert on parliamentary procedure. He is a well-respected teacher and scholar.
