This problem is NOT a race issue. I know just as many poor white folk that get government handouts.
They too need to get an education, speak correct English, save money, take pride in their selves, their work and their homes.
Poverty is a catch 22. They don't know any different than to be on the receiving end of big government. You have to break the cycle by mentoring and tutoring these folk on a 1 on 1 basis.

- Agreed. There will always be poor people because of the human condition, regardless of race. You can't rescue people from poverty by giving them handouts; that only creates dependency and self loathing exacerbating the problem. Opportunities abound in this country; if they are poor there is generally a good explanation as to why. Individual responsibility is the single greatest factor.
