Walter Williams (I think) summarizes all this by saying:
1. Finish high school.
2. Get a job, any job.
3. Get married before having children, and stay married.
It doesn't matter what race a person is, or how poor they were to begin with. If they follow these rules, they will almost never be in poverty.

Exactly. Success can only come from within. It's not always easy but it can be done if you try ... we are all proof of that. How many of us were born into money and a guaranteed life of leisure? I sure wasn't.
