I don't see any problem with them enforcing the law. I just wish it were more consistent. Sure, it sucks for him to have gotten busted, but he was here illegally.

That said, I hope you and your mom are able to regain contact with him when he is back in Honduras where he belongs. Good luck.

Nothing ought to be done.

The INS's failure to stop other illegals has nothing to do with this case.

It is arguable that if they don't do something about THIS guy, then they are serious about stopping ANY illegals. And it is hard to see how INS agents in North Carolina can stop illegals currently crossing the border.

He screwed up. Apparently he screwed up over and over. If he was such a great father he should have focused on his children rather than starting a brand new family. But after all these years of living as an illegal, we're supposed to be concerned that he's being "unfairly" singled out? Hardly.

Bye bye, Rigo.

If he is married to your mom, isn't he regarded as a legal resident?

He knew the drill. So did your mom. It's truly that simple.

You roll the dice, you take your chances. He had AMPLE opportunity to apply for citizenship and, apparently, chose not to.

His choice; and he chose poorly.

I would request prayer for your situation and for Rigo and ask God to resolve the situation in a way that is best for all concerned.

I'd say get an immigration attorney right away. Correction, get a GOOD immigration attorney, there are a lot of imcompetents in that field it seems to me.

Good luck to your mom and her hubby. ANd of course, they should work on closing the border first (see tagline).

You are "truly in a paradox" but "do not see a quandry here".

Man, that is an enigma.

If I don't agree don't reply? Surely you jest!

Just because you're the center of the universe, and you are personally involved, doesn't mean that actions don't have consequences, and in your case the universe should operate by a different set of rules.

I lost track of the crimes or pathetic moves this "sterling citizen" perpetrated, by your own list.
The honest ones, waiting often for years to do things right, under identical "impoverished circumstances" in your mind don't even exist, so screw 'em.

I'll make this short: the slimebucket should be doing hard time.

NO ONE IS ARRESTED FOR BEING HERE ILLEGALY. THEY ONLY GET SENT BACK TO THE COUNTRY OF ORIGIN. YOU DO GET ARRESTED FOR CRIMES.
NO SYMPATHY HERE.

I am a staunch supporter of closing our borders.

Yeah, Illegal Aliens are bad.

Unless it happens to be your Illegal Alien.

You're a staunch hypocrite.

Your mother took up with a guy with this kind of history? He entered the country illegally twice - the second time after being thrown out. He was involved in drugs; he's done felony crimes. And she married him whilst in prison? If not for the green card, then why?

I don't care about his acquisition of a house and many nice things. There are many legal ways to enter the US. Why did he not take advantage of any of them over the years?

I question the judgements of all concerned. Including yours. Quandary? What quandary? I see someone who is tossing their publically stated convictions overboard. And for what?

You, sir, might be better suited to joining the Waffle Party aka the Democrats. They're much more likely to abandon ideals for the sake of immediate gratification.

I'm sorry for your family's troubles. You need an immigration lawyer. If he is deported, I believe there is a certain amount of time he'll have to wait in Honduras before he can apply for a green card. It is good he is now married to your mother. I hope for your family's sake the marriage is enough for the government to overlook the drug conviction.

Ask around. Get the best immigration lawyer you can find.

I understand your situation. You need a really good lawyer. I have a similar situation going on in my family but he wasn't even illegal. The unfairness of it sucks but that's the government for ya. I'll pray for you.

You can consistently support shutting the boarders and Dubya's "amnesty" plan. If Rigo were allowed to register & pay a fine all probs would be solved. In five years he could apply for naturalization and about two years after that he could start voting.

My guess is Rigo would vote conservative and be a far better citizen than Michael Moore.
