I know that portions of the small intestine can be removed and re-sectioned, but the post says 'had his small intestine removed'. If he actually said that is it the biggest lie or misstatement in history.
Since it's obviously possible to have two gallbladders--as in the case of the miracle man--one wonders if the red round one might also have two large intestines, then.
After all, it does seem a lot of chow and adult beverages, none of it good for diabetes, goes through his system.
"Loss of pancreatic tissue after surgical removal increases the risks for the development of diabetes mellitus "
Great info Cal! After the surgery, didn't Andy state that he no longer had diabetes? Seems strange considering the above statement.
I also found this about his surgery. That boy is not flying anywhere if he had this kind of surgery.
Detailed Guide: Pancreatic Cancer Surgery Pancreatic cancer surgery is one of the most difficult operations a surgeon can do. It is also one of hardest for patients to undergo. The postoperative recovery is very slow, there may be many complications and it may take several weeks for patients to recover; therefore, patients need to think about the potential benefits and risks of such surgery.
I will say that many years ago, my mother had a duodenum ulcer. She had part of her stomach removed. There were tubes inserted for drainage for several weeks. Recovery was extremely slow and her diet was changed forever! She was allowed to eat only easy to digest foods.
Hey Andy !! We know you are reading this. Will you please tell us if you have any more duplicate organs ? If you would just list them, it would save us a good amount of time trying to figure out your anatomy.
"Since it's obviously possible to have two gallbladders"
My brother had 2 spleens. They went in to remove his ruptured spleen and found another right behind it.
Sometimes referred to as 'surgical diabetes'. It would depend upon the amount of pancreatic tissue removed, whether he developed it or not. I had a friend who was at one time in his youth a bull rider. The cumulative damage from this (along with copious amounts of alcohol consumption) required the removal of his pancreas and spleen, along with a lobe of his liver. He now has a permanent insulin pump.
Now wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute.
I've been fortunate and never been afflicted by this thing before, but how is it possible to "no longer have diabetes" after one has had it?
I thought once one had diabetes, he had it forever.
That is, unless the round red one had made a side-trip to Lourdes.
If the DUmmies, misled by the Andyites believe this, then we got a real problem here.
"It would depend upon the amount of pancreatic tissue removed, whether he developed it or not."
I only question it because he has stated that he is a diabetic but after the surgery stated that he no longer will have diabetes.
AND Pitt thinks he's very very handsome. Huge turn off.
"I thought once one had diabetes, he had it forever. "
Does anyone else remember him posting after his surgery that he no longer has diabetes? Maybe I'm wrong but I remember reading that and it stuck out in my memory because I am hypoglycemic and had gestational diabetes 3 times.
Drastic changes in the body can bring about diabetes on a temporary basis. Many women suffer from "gestational diabetes" when they are pregnant, and return to normal afterwards. So it is possible that a foreign growth, especially around the pancreas, which makes insulin, could bring about a temporary diabetic state.

The surgery he says he had can cause diabetes. The chemo and radiation combo can further damage his already weak pancreas and cause diabetes. This is what my sister is currently battling.
Hey Registered...it's been suggested that someone put Andy Stephenson's face on a bottle of Miracle Whipple, since he claims to have had the Whipple procedure for pancreatic cancer and is now healthier than the Kenyan track team. How 'bout it?
This is probably my favorite shill for Andy "HE'S GONNA DIE"

Just reminiscing......
As for my brothers...would you mind moving to Maine (current location) or NASCAR country (eventual location)?
Just kidding, really. I think they're probably going to be bachelors for life. They're twins and they get along better with each other than with any woman. :-)

As usual, Andy's posts leave me confused. In Feb he is scared because he has a tumor...in March he is feeling better and as soon as his eyesight returns to normal, he'll be in ship shape (no mention of the tumor)...in May the tumor is removed and he doesn't have diabetes?

Well, that's it folks...I just came from the doctor...
He called me this morning said some more results came back from tissue samples he took during the ERCP. The reason my bile duct collapsed is I apparently have a tumor growing around the bile duct where it passes through my pancreas. The tissue sample was consistent with malignancy it could be benign but I am planning for the worst. I will deal with the outcome the best way I can and I know I have the support of my friends here at DU. I am scared about this...as can be expected.
I just have to say thanks DU for what you have given me. I have many wonderful friends here and consider some of you family. I am scheduled for surgery next week and until then I am on the edge not knowing what it is I am fighting. I may not be posting very much for a while after the surgery...but I will make sure greatauntoftriplets and VelmaD are updated as to my condition.
Pray for me guys...I need it now more than ever, and I hate to ask but if you can donate please help me out. I am gainfully unemployed right now and it does not look like I am gonna be able to work anytime soon.
paypal is Andy_Stephenson@comcast.net
Now I need to go for a while and

12. Now that my blood sugar is coming down
yes I do feel a bit better.
Not as sleepy and not as depressed. Now if I could get my eyes to come back...I would be ship shape and bristol fashion.

25. As an added bonus...there is no Diabetes.
I am still facing chemo and radiation...but one step at a time right now.
At this point in time...I am just happy to be alive and kicking.

A scheduled surgery date a week after 02/23/05? Huh, I don't remember seeing that date before now, but I've read so many different dates for this, I may have missed it.
