I agree it's pretty sloppy-- but that's the way business is done sometimes. I think when people are involved so closely in evaluating this "situation", they expect that banks never mispell names, different departments in the hospital (patient relations which sends out the estimates) always talks to the accounting deparment, and that no one after a surgery would possibly be able to sneak out a phone call.

Personally, I'm satisfied that JHH was paid $50K. And that's giving them the benefit of the doubt that the $18K was actually cashed (that has not been independently verified yet). But as franksolich mentioned, there are still many questions-- foremost in my mind is how much DID they raise, as well as did they try to get more money by fabricating a 5/10 surgery date (that definitely hasn't been explained sufficiently).

Anyhow, kids begging for attention, so back to my world!

Nice to know you thing it's okay for a hospital to lose checks and have to cancel the surgery of a dying man. Seems to me, if this is true, then Scamdy has a case against the hospital. If this is how JH is run than I certainly don't want to have surgery there. Fortunately, I know it's not.

Think I'll ever get an answer to my question at CU? They are probably lurking right now. That's what Scott did that night and was actually replying to us on CU based on what we were saying on FR.

Yes, but if you read my post #369 above: THEY WOULD NOT CANCEL TREATMENT BECAUSE OF NONPAYMENT! His surgery would have happened...this is NOT a tummy tuck, the man supposedly had PANCREATIC CANCER. A social worker or financial counselor would probably have come to his room in a day or two when he was more alert (and probably offer to search some aid sources for him), or talked to his next of kin, whoever had his power of attorney, etc. All this nonsense about needing money up front to SAVE A MAN'S LIFE tarnishes the reputation of a fine hospital. Over the past week, I've read through their entire pancreatic cancer area and much of the other parts of their website...I've perused their family discussion board, they just are NOT going to act in the manner the andyliners are portraying. The ONLY way I can see them demanding money up front is if the treatment was ELECTIVE.
