Named after the pope (vanity)
April 4, 2005

I was born on Oct-16-1978 without a name. My parents thought I was going to be a girl and never had a boys name for me. The day I was born my mother was recovering after delivery watching Pope John Paul II getting elected as the 264th pope of the Catholic Church. With this strange set of circumstances I was named John Paul.
TOPICS:
KEYWORDS: pope
Just wanted to see if there is anyone else named after the Pope.

What a cool thing your mom did for you...and John Paul is a strong, solid name! A "real" name as my mom would say. Lucky you...carry it on.

Your lucky! We didnt have a name picked out for our oldest either. He got named after a street we passed on the way to the hospital.
To: Right Wing It
Do you know why it was under breaking news. I selected vanity for the post not breaking news.

Makes me wonder what Dad was watching when he named his kids "Dweezil" and "Moon Unit"...

I would guess he was thinking that he didn't want his kids to be "normal". He was quite amused and disgusted with "normal", and I can't say I blame him.

So that's why he's known affectionately as "Highway 42?"

I went to school with a kid born in a cab while his mother was enroute to the hospital. He was affectionately known as "Yellow"
