A year after the launch of the Air America radio network, progressive talk is making progress

The Boston Globe is not stingy with the adjectives when praising Air America and their present situation and future outlook.

Naysayers viewed the venture with skepticism, arguing, among other things, that liberals were generally too humorless to succeed in what is essentially an entertainment medium. As the new HBO documentary ''Left of the Dial" (which airs tonight) reports, the early days of Air America were marked by financial chaos, management turnover, and the constant threat of extinction. Today, however, the Air America lineup is heard on 54 stations in cities including New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, as well as Boston.9snip0

Don't you believe it. The Radio Equalizer has the real poop on Error America's latest major city market shares and overall condition.

Air America now lists 51 mostly tiny affiliates, which is not very impressive after a full year of media attention, industry affection and trade publication hype. Many smaller conservative radio networks can boast twice that number and still not be taken very seriously by radio professionals.

Watch the HBO special tonight, then read Bryan Maloney's piece. Bet you'll know who's telling the truth. On second thought, save some time, just read Maloney.

"if only someone would say that to our President at a news conference...."

Personally Bush has to take a public stance against actions of that nature, privately I'll bet he's totally in favor of it.

What really amuses me is the choice of name, " Air America". Hmmmmmm, seems that was the name for the C.I.A.'s clandestine aviation service during Vietnam, which the Libs just LOVE to point out as a Republican debacle. What goes around comes around, but I think the current "Air America" is going to get a whole lot less air-time than the original.

"Air" America? More like "Scair America." As Rush L. always says, the Left has nothing to sell but Fear itself.

I find it ironic that KFI 640 in Los Angeles has more listeners than the entire Air America network. One station vs 54. (Of course, it's a clear channel station going at 50,000 watts, heard over most of the western United States depending upon weather conditions, but still...)

Politically if he comes out in favor of this action and someone (an illegal) gets shot or worse the world press will roast him. He's better to pan the move in obligatory fashion and let them go about their business....sort of like the police captain in "Death Wish"

If they're gonna name themselves after a movie, DUMB AND DUMBER would be more appropriate.

I listened to it once on a TV replay they were doing. It was just plain boring. All they did was knock FOX News. Like there was no other reason to exist other than that. Contrast that with Conservative Talk Radio.
