Raven, a 12-yr-old whose uncle is fighting in Iraq made a necklace from red, white and blue beads from a jewelry kit she received for Christmas.
She wore it to school as a token of support for her uncle and
Schenectady school officials immediately banned her from displaying her unique neckwear in a belief such "gang-related" jewelry violates policy, court papers alleged. Raven was threatened with suspension if she continued to wear the beads.
TOPICS: Education; Government; Politics
KEYWORDS: antimilitary; beades; blacks; bloods; blue; colors; crips; dresscodes; gangs; homemade; necklace; raven; red; schools; soldier; white
Raven's mother has been kind enough to explain what's happening and would appreciate any support on this matter.

Wow, another nest of looney leftists masquerading as teachers.
Almost at the level of dog-bites-man, these days.
Cant we just shoot 'em all yet?

Looks like Schenectady might become the sequel to ITHACA: The City Of Evil.

This right on the heels of the Teacher in NYC that had his 6th graders writing to troops, and in the letters several of the kids claimed things like "the US Army is blowing up Mosques..."
Now gee I just gotta wonder...where does a 6th grader come to the conclusion that the US is running around blowing up holy sites in Iraq??

I'm in that gang, and a note to the Schenectady School Officials: Word to everything you love we comin' to see you, and we bringin' pipe wrenches and blow torches. Time to get Medieval on somebody.

Shouldn't pitchforks be included? Sad. And the world watches in earnest as stupid Americans, if we can classify such idiots as being, undermine this God blessed land.

Is it possible that Red, White, & Blue IS a gang color in the area?

Well, here in central Cali, red is a gang color. But many times the school officials don't use common sense when enforcing the dress code banning "gang affiliation attire". For instance, a friend of my son was sent home because he had a red Marine Corp tee shirt. His father served 2 TOD in Vietnam, and understandably was incensed at this nonsense. He promptly pulled him and his brother both out of that school and enrolled them in independent study.

According to the article, there are no gang problems in the area. And besides, red white and blue are the colors of the school mascot!
