It isn't really his choice. He serves at the will of the President. But I think the rumors of Cheney being replaced is a bunch of wash. Bush is not a strategist. He is a loyal man. Cheney stays until 2008. Thats my prediction.

The Vice-President is elected along with the President (see Article II, Section 1, Clause 1). The President can not fire the Vice-President. Cheney will be the one to decide if Cheney resigns.

I don't agree that Bush is not a stagiest but I do agree he is loyal and that is a very good reason why Cheney will remain. The other reason is that IMHO Bush believes he is the best man for the job and also the working and personal relationship between the 2 men Cheney ain't going anywhere until 2009 when he will go and find those streams and rivers that he has yet to fish and explore.
