DUmmie FUnnies 01-12-05 ("Uh-Oh....Air America ratings slipping in NYC?")
DUmmie FUnnies ^ | January 12, 2005 | DUmmies and PJ-Comix

Err America Radio is flopping bigtime in the ratings and the DUmmies analyze this situation in this THREAD titled, “Uh-Oh....Air America ratings slipping in NYC?” Yes, Err America Radio, launched with much fanfare a year ago, is going straight down the tubes. But the Left need fear not. They will still have National Public Radio if Err America gives up the ghost. As usual the DUmmie whinings are in Bolshevik Red while the commentary of your humble correspondent, wishing that he could receive Laura Ingraham on the radio, is in the [brackets]:

Uh-Oh....Air America ratings slipping in NYC? This is from Drudge, so one has to consider the source. But if true, it's not good news.
'AIR AMERICA' RATINGS TURBULENCE IN NY CITY: Surprising many observers who expected it to shine during election season, all-liberal upstart WLIB (1190 AM) -- base station for Al Franken and Janeane Garofalo -- actually headed south, shedding 15% of its summer audience to finish fall at 24th place in just-released ARBITRONS...

[24th place? What was in 23rd place? The Static Sound Hour?]

Get rid of Jeanine Grafolo maybe 7-10 will become listenable again

[The sound of paint drying would get higher ratings than Grafolo. Or is her name Crayolo?]

They need to work on the FUNNY and the SNARKY...and lighten up on the earnestness a bit. There's a fine line between an outraged, though humorous, rant and HECTORING.

[They also need to work on the RATIONALITY.]

I hate to say it, but some of AA is getting very tiresome...and it rhymes with Sandi Sodes. If I hear this woman blow shit and go high-and-mighty on one more friendly caller... Well, that won't happen, because I stopped listening to her weeks ago. My blood pressure has dropped probably 20 points since then.

[Take it easy on Randi Rhodes. The other day she spent two hours whining that countries could have been warned that a tsunami was coming with a mere phone call. She kept repeating that over and over for only a couple of hours. In the old days, Randi would have spent three whole hours beating that subject to death.]

I like Randi, but I think Morning Sedition (and ESPECIALLY Marc Maron) is 3 hours of un-listenable sophomoric drivel. A third rate comic hack who is amazingly unfunny should be doing a stupid sitcom for WB - not trying to educate an audience.

[Strange. I feel exactly the same way about the Glenn Beck show. Maybe we should have a contest over who is a more boring comedian wannabee. Glenn Beck or Marc Maron.]

I dislike it when Randi goes postal on liberal callers. I finally had to stop listening to her, too.

[Randi has been going postal for years.]

they need to get a better signal (I can barely hear the radio through the static when I'm not streaming)

[I heard that the Err America New York station is powered by Chris Heinz riding a stationary bicycle pedal generator.]

Find more people like Randi and Mike that speak with conviction and passion.

[Holding auditions in the mental asylums might be a good start.]

Randi, she is great, but her tangents get tiresome, sometimes it is her voice.

[The rest of the time it is just her annoying personality.]

What is the deal about Sean talking about DUmmie FUnnies?

Not the DUFUs. The DUmmies. However, it would be GREAT if Sean also mentions the DUFUs.

Whew! I was beginning to think I just didn't get it with Beck.

Beck has moments where I think he's hilarious - I particularly love a lot of his satirical sketches. But then he goes off on these weird maudlin tangents that just leave me scratching my head.

I thought for sure you'd do one about the OHSC throwing out the voter challenge. They have got be on suicide watch about that.

Tomorrow, I am going to listen to AA for one full work day just to hear what it's all about.

Air Franken ratings are slipping everywhere. The Bush inauguration is just around the corner. Indiana just inaugurated it's first Republican governor in 16 years. We're off to a great year.

Her perfect character was as the class grouchy depressed nihilist in that silly but sometimes funny movie Romy and Michele's High School Reunion with Lisa Kudrow from Friends.
She's another of those who should just stick to acting and quit pretending she's some world-wise big thinker.

'AIR AMERICA' RATINGS TURBULENCE IN NY CITY . . . shedding 15% of its summer audience to finish fall at 24th place in just-released ARBITRONS...

This "ratings turbulence" is obviously a fraud! Rove cooked the books! Wear orange headbands until there is a recount!

There can be stations from other markets that infiltrate the ratings in another market. For example, the smaller radio markets surrounding new York City, such as Monmouth/Ocean (NJ), Long Island, and Somerset/Middlesex (Central NJ) can manage to have some listeners in the NY Metro. It's possible those people that receive Arbitron diaries (these are mailed to random listeners to compute ratings - very archaic!) may live within the NY Metro area but listen to a local Central Jersey station, for example.

It can also work in reverse, such as the NY City stations showing up in the Monmouth/Ocean NJ ratings. You'd be surprised at the signal reach of the NY stations into the Nj suburbs along the shore.

As a former Jersey girl, I would think the two non-NYC stations that are showing up in the NY City metro ratings would be NJ 101.5 and WBLI (Long Island local). Just a guess.

"Is there anybody DUmmies like for more than five minutes?"

LOL, nope. I guess they worship at the cult of personality and engage mostly in group think.

Everytime the wind blows they they are ga-ga over some personality or other.

If they like a comment by Obama they holler "Obama for President".

Then when he says something they dislike they scream "He has deserted us. No Obama for President".

It is amusing but can make a person dizzy trying to follow it.

=8-]

50-kilowatt WSAI 1530 kHz. in Cincinnati is going Err America in about a week. This, after EA drew a .25 share in Boston, and this development in NYC?

Oh well, give it a few weeks and it'll be back as hot wax again...

Man, you're right about that martial discord; I just checked the thread, and there's some real wedded spats going on.

I find it easy to get along with people with whom I agree only 5%, 10%, 15% of the time--but apparently for DUmmies, if it's anything less than 100%, they don't get along at all.

Wow, I just read through some of that thread. Some people should simply not get married.

I need to go shower now....

Hey, by the way, and this is off the subject offered us by the most excellent craftsman P.J., but how do you get pictures on your profile? I wanted to put some on mine, but "copy" and then "paste" didn't work.
