They are calling this the "new" DU
Democratic Underground | 12/5/04

Posted on 12/06/2004 7:00:37 AM PST by NRA1995

sense that in the last couple of days DUers are coming out of their funk from the recent election... And they are not in a happy mood. They are definitely not in the mood to be f*ked with or to listen to any freeper [bull]. And they are ready to lay down some markers for their Party. They want to see some opposition to these fascists that are sabotaging our democracy. They have had enough of this "bi-partisan" crapola. Even if we must fight from the minority position forever, let us stand on our principles. We would rather fight from what we believe than to win with nothing.

I hope you're right. I've seen a couple of FReepers on here that would totally agree with a little gender bias, though. Disappointing, but true.

Hitlery would be pretty scary as a candidate, though. She's seriously lacking in credibility, IMO.

"she-who-must-not-be-named"! lol

Do they ever make sense?

Only when it's really a FReeper posting under an assumed name.

There was a guy the other day, think his id was "Truman" or something like that. He was arguing that they all needed to understand that Bush won because he got more votes, that they needed to cut out the BS conspiracy crap, and start thinking about what to do to get more votes next time around.

They damn near murdered him.

Sorry en chick - maybe I was too subtle!

"That's all we ask. (and pray that it is a him not HER)."

Note there was no preposition before HER - there is only one HER I inferred - her Heinous or Hitlery.

You're right...in retrospect, the missing preposition gives it away. Sorry. I'm glad I misunderstood you. :)

I have one of those but I can't stand to stay there more than a few seconds. The dry heaves are unpleasant.

Amen! And let them "eat their principles" too! Yeeeehawww!!! With this new mindset, the DemonRats will be out of power FOREVER and will become nothing but a byword that stands for abortion, gay marriage, anti-Christ[ian} rhetoric, immorality, pedophelia, ACLU lovers, Ten Commandment haters, public education school child indoctrinators, and the list goes on! THEY'LL FINALLY DIE A PAINFUL DEATH!!

The DemonRats are in SERIOUS trouble. If their party is trying to force them left, and they try to posture to the center, they collapse. If they go further left, they collapse. If they throw the gays and baby killers overboard, they volunteer structure collapses!!

The DemonRats are DYING!!

Thank you--maybe it needs to be re-posted as a new thread.
I'm a newbie and am already tired of the DU stuff -- with the exception of the PJ Comix's Dummie Funnies of course! I never get tired of them.

Current Alexa ranking for FR is 1,435. DU is ranked at 5,060.

You can also look at Google hits - 752,000 for "freerepublic.com" vs. 246,000 for "democraticunderground.com".

The Free Republic obsession with Democratic Underground has always bugged me. Why do people have the idea that the sites are comparable? FR is at least relatively mainstream, while DU is pretty marginal. Of course people will find something to be mocked of on DU - you can find something to be made fun of in any small community of zealots. If people assume that what you read there is representative of Democrats or liberals in general, however, they are deluding themselves.

For what it's worth, I am a longtime liberal lurker on FR, and I stick around because there are smart people here with well reasoned opinions on a wide range of topics. I refuse to believe that one side has a monopoly on the truth (or more fundamentally, that buying into the liberal/conservative Democrat/Republican dichotomy is a smart approach to begin with.) Though I frequent many political websites, both on the right and left, I had never heard of Democratic Underground before I saw it linked to from Free Republic. DU is neither important nor representative in the world of lefty political sites. If all you're looking for in political discussion is to take potshots at freaks, then by all means have your fun with DU - but please don't take it too seriously.

"let us stand on our principles"

Agreed. Only trouble is that their principles are the principles of socialism, something that they usually go to some length to disguise.

Except, on FR you are not entitled to get what you want. You are only entitled to get what Jim Robinson wants.

>>>>I refuse to believe that one side has a monopoly on the truth...

Then you're in denial.

FRee Republic is all about conservatism. DU is all about liberalism.

Bottomline. Conservatism trumps liberalism ALL DAY LONG!

Those of you who want to rattle their cages are welcome to it, but please do not drag any of their garbage back to FR and please do not bother posting vanities about your experiences with them. It's not wanted here and will be deleted.

Thanks,

Jim

The "New" DU thread, nestled between

"My cat just barfed on my shoes - ask me anything!"

and

"I'm going to CostCo, What should I buy?"

and

"BushCo Fraud Proven by Barbara Boxer's Astrological Chart!!!"

I have to agree with zook. We should know what they are thinking, as hideous as that sounds.
They are the ones posting threats.
